About this property

Carefully appointed throughout to provide bright and airy accommodation, this Lake District cottage is perfect for families wishing to enjoy the seaside location with the benefit of being on the doorstep of the beautiful Lake District National Park. Set on the ground floor, this Baycliff cottage has three bedrooms with an open plan living area with large picture windows looking out across the sea; the ideal spot to set up the telescope and focus in on the local wildlife, plus the cosy living area has a woodburner, perfect for chilly winter nights. Outside this Baycliff cottage by the sea is a large patio area with direct access on to the beach; perfect for relaxing in this quiet oasis. The quiet village of Baycliff is just a three-minute walk away and has a popular pub serving excellent food, and a large play park for children. With the tip of Lake Windermere being 14 miles away, this coastal cottage near Bardsea is a perfect base for exploring the Lake District and visiting the popular villages of Ambleside, Bowness and Grasmere. For younger visitors, there is the South Lakes Animal Park and the Aquarium of the Lakes. The bustling town of Ulverston is just a ten-minute drive away, offering some excellent restaurants and shops, as well as a colourful calendar of festivals, including a Dickensian and Flag Festival, where you'll find a wonderful town atmosphere. The town also has The Laurel and Hardy Museum, a perfect pick-me-up on a wet day. This beachside cottage near Bardsea is a little gem to be enjoyed all year.

Positioned on a hill overlooking Morecambe Bay is the small village of Bardsea. This remote settlement grew from a small fishing village and farming area to become a major transportation link for coal, iron ore and corn. Today, Bardsea still retains its fishing heritage, and features two pubs, both of which serve fine ales and good food. The village itself is located close to Furness Abbey, whilst the market town of Ulverston is just two miles away, and maintains its street market tradition, hosting one every Thursday and Saturday throughout the year. Ulverston is also the location for many festivals including an amazing lantern procession in November and a Dickensian weekend in early December. With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park within easy driving distance, and the sandy beaches of the Furness coast close by, this peaceful spot has plenty to offer.

Cottage was very comfortable and had all the necessities. Local pub was great. Amy was quick to respond to any queries: Will definitely be booking again.

We had rain coming in from the roof running down the wall by the fireplace, just glad it didn’t go in the wall sockets. The dishwasher was rusty in places inside and when you pulled out the drawers they came off the runners. It would have been nice to have full instructions for the microwave and oven. It was also mentioned in the read up about the property that a shop and farm shop were a few minutes away, this however was not correct, the farm shop had been gone over 2 years and there was no shop. The pub was ok but to get to it if you didn’t want to drive the very narrow lane going uphill from Driftwood was a a bit risky as there were no places to get out of the way in the last bit of the hill.
