Kirkby Lonsdale is a charming market town located in the Lune Valley, halfway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town has a 13th-century Market Charter and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. Today, Thursday is market day, giving tourists the chance to explore the town's unique independent stores and numerous still-standing structures from the 17th and 18th centuries. Additionally, the town was a nominee for the 2016 High Street of the Year Award. Turner loved to visit this area of the Lune Valley, and Ruskin made it renowned; his "view" of the valley is still breath-taking.

We had a couple of minor issues on arrival and Jo speedily sorted these out for us. Thank you Jo. The upstairs of this accommodation is fabulous - very clean with comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. However the downstairs lets it down. On arrival there was a greasy smell coming from the kitchen - maybe the oven filters need changing. However we weren’t planning on cooking as there are lots of restaurants close by and the smell dissipated over a few days. The sofas and chairs really need replacing as they are very uncomfortable. If this was done l’d give a 5/5.
