The economy of this magnificent location was exclusively based on fishing for many centuries until the advent of the Industrial Revolution, when the wealthy created an opulent area that has lasted till today. Clifton Street, a wooded street just a short walk from the Lytham coastline, is home to attractive boutiques, eateries, and independent stores. The restored Windmill and Old Lytham Lifeboat House museum are located on Lytham Green, a strip of grass that runs between the coastline and the major coastal road and overlooks the River Ribble towards the Welsh Mountains. Tours of the brewery are available for those interested in craft ales.
