About this property

Throstlegarth is a well-equipped, pet-friendly house in Milnthorpe, Cumbria. Set in an elevated position with far-reaching views across the bay towards Grange-over-Sands, it is a well-suited base for families and groups of friends looking to explore both the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Arrive and park on the private driveway before stepping out to take in the setting, where the front garden stretches ahead with a lawn and seating, inviting you to pause and appreciate the open outlook across the surrounding landscape. Make your way to the entrance and step inside to begin your stay. Head first into the bright sitting room, where large windows draw in natural light and frame green views of the garden and rolling hills to the side.

Settle onto the sofa, switch on the Smart TV, and let the gas fire add a gentle warmth as you unwind after your journey. Just beyond, the snug offers a more relaxed retreat, where you can sink into the sofa with a book or gather around the selection of games for a laid-back evening together. Continue through to the dining room, where a woodburning stove sits within a characterful brick fireplace, setting the scene for shared meals that stretch into the evening. Open the doors to the outside and bring in the fresh air as you move between indoor and outdoor spaces with ease.

From here, step into the kitchen, where underfloor heating adds comfort underfoot as you prepare meals using the gas hob, electric oven, and well-equipped setup, with a dishwasher and microwave helping to keep everything running smoothly while the fridge and freezer store your essentials. The ground floor also hosts a convenient shower room, where underfloor heating brings warmth as you freshen up after a day outdoors, along with a washing machine to take care of gear and clothes following countryside walks. Make your way upstairs along the carpeted staircase, where a stairgate adds reassurance for those travelling with younger guests. On this floor, the bedrooms each offer a different outlook.

The king-size room enjoys striking views towards Grange-over-Sands, creating a welcoming space to wake up to each morning. The double bedroom also captures impressive countryside scenery, offering a restful place to settle in for the night. One single room looks out towards the footpath and a nearby tower, while the second single bedroom provides further countryside views along with ample storage for your stay. Completing the interior, the bathroom offers a bath with a shower over and basin, while a separate WC provides added convenience to keep morning routines running smoothly. Step back outside to discover both front and rear seating areas, including a terrace accessed directly from the dining room, ideal for enjoying meals outdoors or taking in the surroundings at different times of day.

The garden layout includes a series of steps with handrails leading through the outdoor spaces and towards a private footpath, offering another way to explore the immediate area. A shop and pub can be reached with a short stroll, while a nearby river provides an easy option for a gentle walk. Venture into the Lake District National Park and discover days out around Windermere, where you can take a scenic boat trip across the lake, wander lakeside paths with ever-changing views, and visit waterside towns filled with independent cafés and shops. In the Yorkshire Dales National Park, explore dramatic limestone landscapes, follow walking routes through valleys lined with dry stone walls, and visit traditional market towns offering local produce and historic charm.

Closer to the property, Arnside and Silverdale provide rewarding visits, where you can climb Arnside Knott for panoramic views across the estuary, spend time at nature reserves rich in birdlife, and follow coastal paths that trace the shoreline. With stunning countryside views, walks from the doorstep, and easy access to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, Throstlegarth is a great base for exploring Cumbria.
