About this property

Set at the foot of the Howgill Fells in the charming town of Sedbergh is this delightful whitewashed stone property, Howgill Cottage. This heart-warming retreat is the perfect choice for couples seeking to stay in a peaceful and tranquil setting and explore all Cumbria has to offer. Be welcomed into a spacious sitting room home to a classic inglenook fireplace, with a woodburning stove for those chillier evenings. Cosy up on the plush and inviting sofa to rest your feet and enjoy some entertainment from the TV. A wonderfully appointed open-plan kitchen/diner to the rear is host to an electric AGA cooker, so you're sure to enjoy whipping up some delicious dishes on this impressive appliance. The dining area is the ideal space for enjoying a hearty breakfast whilst planning the week ahead, while in the evening it brings a way to enjoy a peaceful moment across from your loved one. Once the evening draws to a close, retire to the Double bedroom on the first floor, adorned with quality bed linens, inviting you to wind down before waking up to the sun behind the window with its lovely views across the country. When you need to freshen up, choose from an elegant bath and walk-in shower for an evening of relaxation after a long day sightseeing. Nestled near the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and only a few miles from the Lake District National Park, you are well-placed for accessing a number of popular tourist attractions. Historically the Howgill Fells were some of Alfred Wainwright's favourites, and are well-worth visiting for those keen explorers and hikers. Sedbergh has a number of historic houses, plenty of independent shops and a local pub, whilst its market dates back to the 13th century. Sport enthusiasts have the choice of three golf courses within driving distance, as well as tennis courts, horse riding and even fishing. Travel further afield into the Lake District and take a long lakeside walk at the famous Lake Windermere, where you can get involved in watersports such as fishing and boat trips. Or venture towards the popular tourist attraction of Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum, for you literary lovers. Howgill Cottage is an excellent modernised cottage in the heart of the Cumbrian countryside.

Sedbergh is a small town and civil parish resting in Cumbria, England. Once part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, this town still remains in the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is easily commutable to the Lake District for a variety of tourist attractions. It has a convenience store and selection of pubs/restaurants for all of your amenities and is within reach of the bustling town of Kendal for a larger choice.

Lovely clean cottage with excellent facilities however a few personal touches would improve, eg shower bathmat, toaster. Lack of washing up liquid and only half a toilet roll for two people for 3 nights is the only issue I have. That may seem petty but I would expect more from a holiday let. Overall a pleasant break in a lovely location.

The stay could have been enhanced by a few improvements. Outside area was scruffy and could do with some attention. Cutlery was rather a jumble of types. Could not find a corkscrew or bottle opener.

A full length mirror would be advantageous for ladies.
