About this property

Keepers Cottage is located 4 miles from Alston in an area of outstanding natural beauty. This upside down style accommodation is attached to the owners home and provides for all your holiday requirements with stunning scenery and walks from the door. Located on the Northumberland / Cumbrian border the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Hadrian's Wall are all easily accessible.

Greenends is located 4 miles from Alston, the highest market town in England with narrow gauge steam railway, tea rooms and craft shop and 1 mile from the former mining village of Nenthead with village post office and restaurant. Within a half hour drive is Penrith and nearby Rheghed Visitor Centre and Ullswater the northern most lake. Hexham with its own abbey and the attractive market town of Corbridge and of course Hadrian’s Wall are all easily accessible.

The cottages can be reached from Penrith, following the A686, listed as one of the “AA’s 10 best drives in the world”, alternatively from the north and the east travel alongside Hadrian’s Wall and drive through Alston, used to film Oliver Twist with Julie Walters and Michael Kitchen, and admire the cobbled streets and local shops. From the east you will drive through the old mining villages passing Killhope, a former lead mine that does underground tours, this is indeed an area of not only outstanding natural beauty but is steeped in history.

The three cottages sit in the owners grounds, they have been converted by local craftsmen to an extremely high standard and have been furnished and equipped to provide 5* accommodation with your every comfort in mind and anticipating all your requirements including bath robes, toiletries and a welcome pack. The individual cottages have their own gardens or patios where peace and quiet can be enjoyed taking in the superb rural outlook, while recharging your batteries from your busy lifestyle.

A warm welcome awaits you, not only from the owners who live on site and manage the properties, but also from their pet Alpacas, who live in the adjoining paddock.
