Walking around you can see reminders of its history and of its Victorian charm, with cobbled streets and narrow lanes. This modern, semi-detached property, built in 2007, offers contemporary living and is a great property for your next Cumbrian getaway. This beautiful home, set over two floors, can accommodate up to four guests and features a spacious master bedroom on the first floor, as a well as a twin bedroom and a bathroom with shower over the bath. It would be perfect for one or two couples, and certainly great for families. Downstairs, the well equipped kitchen and modern living room features wooden floors and stylish furniture, meaning you will have everything you need to relax after a long day breathing in the fresh sea air. Your pets can come too, and the hard floors downstairs make it an ideal property for your companions to enjoy their holiday too! The property benefits from its own driveway for private parking, and if you want to bring along your bikes or water sports equipment, there is plenty of storage available in the lockable garage. At the rear of the property, there is a small enclosed patio complete with garden furniture which is perfect for soaking up the morning sun.
Step outside the property and you have a lovely tea room within 20 paces, and then cross the quiet road to the wonders of Allonby Beach. Its long stretching sandy bay is the perfect place to exercise your four-legged friends and to go exploring for shells with the children, the family will love it. Also across the road is a playground for children and a football field with goal posts. If you don’t feel like cooking after a long drive, there is a fish and chip shop across the road, 150 yards, and the local pub is just 100 yards. Allonby Beach offers spectacular views across the Solway Firth to the mountains of southern Scotland, and is located just 5 miles from Maryport if you are looking for more restaurants, shopping and pubs.
If you want a more rugged adventure, you are only a 10-mile drive from the Lake District National Park, where you can tackle any one of the 214 Wainwright walks. It is just 16 miles to the nearest lake, Bassenthwaite, home to the Lake District Wildlife Park with over 100 species of animals, which makes for a great family day out. It is also home to the Lakes Distillery, who produce local gin, whisky and vodka, and also offers tasting tours too. I read the reviews after I'd booked the holiday.This was my experience. Inside the cottage was spotless. Absolutely spotless. The home was comfortably appointed and stylish.Everything worked, though the front and back doors were temperamental at times.Full sized fridge freezer is ideal for 4 people self catering. Shower had a great shower head and good pressure. A handy hose on the garden tap allowed for doggie clean off in the back garden. I parked in front of the house's garage around the back of the house. To be honest the car is safer there than on the front drive because cars and delivery vans are in and out of the tight cobbled road during the day. Yes, the pickup owner still parked on the drive, across the door. Insane entitlement, and a red car moved on the drive for the rest of the week when the pick up owner vacated Sunday afternoon. They never once parked on next doors drive, so it must be because this house is a holiday home, ridiculous really, as there are lots of holiday homes in that small area around the house. The area.The last time I was in Cumbria was 37 years ago, in the mountains. The beach here is wonderful, on clear days the views of the Scottish lowlands are fantastic, and looking the other way are the Cumbria mountains..The first part of the beach is pebble, but the tide was out most of the time and we had vast expanse of lovely sand to wander up and down the long beach..The beach looks due west and the sunsets are beautiful. The cafe in the beach Carr Park does fantastic food and desserts and the lady who runs it is so friendly and welcoming.Maryport has a good sized Tesco Express and Cockermouth a little further east has more shops again. On my home I drove down through the lakes district. Stunning. It was a great way to spend the last day of the holiday, stopping at look out points along the way. Also, went to see Gary and Karen the goats, and their alpacasat Willow Lane Lpaca farm. That was a really hands on fun stop off.
