About this property

Longtown 4.7 miles. The Courtyard is a luxurious country retreat for up to four people, in the grounds of Kirklinton Hall - a beautiful, atmospheric, and partly ruined country house, dating back to the 17th century, all surrounded by 14 acres of formal gardens, woodland and meadows. As you turn through the gates of Kirklinton Hall prepare to be transported to another world as the impressive remains of Kirklinton Hall come into full view.

The Courtyard created from the Hall’s carriage house, combines many original features with everyday comforts, with stone floors and underfloor heating throughout. Step indoors and be wowed by the open-plan living space, with exposed stonework, original beams and a woodburning stove. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a large breakfast island, along with a dining table to gather around for relaxed evening meals. Alternatively, sink into the luxurious sofas and either soak up the silence or catch a film on the smart TV. Two beautifully appointed and spacious bedrooms are on offer, a king-size and a twin (zip/link), both complete with luxurious bed linens and plenty of storage, whilst a sleek and elegant bathroom invites you to indulge in a long soak or a refreshing shower. Outside you will have access to formal gardens and woodland surrounding the property. Relax in the total tranquillity of the gardens or take a woodland riverside walk, following the tumbling beck until it finally joins a curve of the River Lyne. If you can tear yourself away, you are just a few miles from the Scottish border, and ideally situated for exploring Hadrian’s Wall, the Lake District and Northumberland National Parks, and the Scottish Borders. For an unforgettable stay in a very special property book your next escape at The Courtyard. Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 1102745 and 1129282, together sleeping up to eight guests.

Kirklinton Hall is also a wedding venue, but no weddings will take place when the cottages are booked for holiday breaks.

A delightful, well-stocked town in northern Cumbria that runs alongside the River Esk. Longtown is a fantastic base for a holiday as it comes in the centre of four Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including Solway Coast aonb, the Northumberland National Park, North Pennines aonb and the Lake District National Park. The local area offers a pleasant range of shops, pubs and restaurants for you to choose from. There are some beautiful places nearby, offering even more places to go and things to do. Brampton and Carlisle are nearby with beautiful buildings. I wished I had taken my art “stuff” with me it was so inspiring. It was super quiet too. The hosts were very warm and welcoming. They are happy to share their journey with this Grade II project - I was so impressed. The cottage was spacious and warm - everything high spec and everything you need provided for. It has touches of old with the modern - wonderful conversion - stunning. My only con would be it was approx 5 miles from a pub/ restaurant etc. Our labradoodle loved his morning walks down to the river straight out of the front door. We will definitely want to return next year if not sooner.

We found the property to be cosy yet spacious and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds very comfy. The grounds were lovely too, the girls loved walking down to the woods to play. We loved our stay, thank you!
