In the stunning valley of Wasdale and Eskdale (10 miles away) you will find Scafell Range, Great Gable and Bow Fell. Keen walkers will enjoy walking to the summit of Scafell, but those who prefer a gentle amble will appreciate the footpaths in the local area. If you enjoy water sports, why not try your hand at paddleboarding on Wastwater or kayaking down the River Esk (within 10 miles)?. History lovers will find so much on offer in the local area, from the Viking cross in Gosforth's churchyard to Muncaster Castle, which is 8 miles away, and there s a wealth of Roman heritage nearby.
