Adventure awaits at Clarence House.

Dalton-in-Furness, an old town, can be found in a small valley on the part of the Furness Peninsula that juts out into Morecambe Bay. Dalton, the historic county seat of Furness, now boasts numerous cafes, restaurants, and bars. A Victorian drinking fountain, the market cross, and 19th-century stone slabs used for fish drying are just a few of the interesting buildings in and around the town's central square. Dalton Castle, a pele tower built in the 14th century, was originally used by the monks of nearby Furness Abbey, an impressive sandstone ruin set in a tranquil wooded valley. The South Lakes Wild Animal Park, the lone Laurel and Hardy museum in Ulverston, and the Haventhwaite Steam Railway, which travels to Lakeside and connects to steam trains to Bowness and Ambleside, are all within easy reach of the city. The beautiful Duddon Estuary and Duddon Valley are located just north of Dalton-in-Furness, and other nearby attractions include Cartmel, Holker Hall, and Grizedale Forest. This area is perfect for hikers, bicyclists, and beachgoers due to its location on the outskirts of Lake District National Park.
