We had a wonderful time at Calf House Cottage. The cottage is ideally situated to explore County Durham, Teesdale and North Yorkshire. Raby Castle, Beamish Museum, Richmond and Durham are only a short drive away and Alnwick and Whitby are only just over an hours drive too!The cottage is comfortable, well appointed, warm and cosy and it's a joy to watch the calves from the lounge. We enjoyed exploring the farm, feeding the calves and learning all about dairy farming from Steve.Steve did a brilliant 10 star job whilst Sharon was away volunteering in Kenya. He was so busy looking after the farm but still found time to give us fresh milk, eggs and beer from the on site micro brewery. We would definitely recommend the cottage to everyone.

Lovely cottage, well located, however, the oven thermostat doesn’t appear to be functioning as it just heated up to 250 whatever setting was chosen, the smoke alarm works perfectly 😂 the kitchen tap is running/ dripping causing a high pitch whine and there was a shortage of teaspoons. The road alongside is noisy with high speed vehicles so beware if you take a dog. I would recommend earplugs as the calf’s don’t half make a racket 🙉That being said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and once the above problems are rectified would highly recommend.
