Guests say

Bishop Cottage in Saltburn-by-the-Sea is highly praised for its cosy atmosphere, dog-friendly garden, and proximity to lovely beaches. Guests appreciate the on-site restaurant, Kaskane, for its good food and friendly staff. The cottage's location is ideal for walks and exploring the Whitby area. While most reviews are positive, a few mention minor cleanliness and maintenance issues.

Most guests found the cottage to be clean and comfortable. However, a few noted areas for improvement, such as kitchen cleanliness and the presence of dust in some corners. These seem to be isolated incidents rather than a common trend.

The location is consistently praised for its peacefulness, proximity to the beach, and suitability for dog walking. It serves as a good base for visiting the area, with easy access to local attractions and amenities.

Guests describe the cottage as warm, cosy, and comfortable, with a good-sized lounge and a lovely garden. Some guests mentioned the beds being a bit hard, but overall, the comfort level is highly regarded.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a special mention of the wet room. Some guests suggested improvements such as better kitchen utensils and a working extractor fan. The on-site restaurant adds value, but there were minor points about missing items like a BBQ and a hairdryer.

Guests were touched by welcome gifts such as wine and chocolates, though it's important to note that such gestures are a bonus and not guaranteed. The presence of dog-friendly features and the provision of essentials also reflect a considerate approach.

About this property

A lovely single-storey terraced cottage in Skinningrove. Cosy, comfortable accommodation, a great base for touring. Note: This property is next to Ref. 2835 and Ref. 3719 and together they can accommodate 11.

The former fishing village of Skinningrove sits on the Cleveland Way, and visitors will find an assortment of engaging cottages and houses plus a variety of shops within its boundaries. It has a sandy beach ideal for children and families, and the area is excellent for fossil hunting amongst the rocks on the foreshore. Skinningrove was also part of the Ironstone mining industry and there is a museum in the area that charts its industrial history. Saltburn is six miles away and has kept much of its Victorian heritage, including the oldest water balanced cliff tramway in Britain, well worth a visit. Skinningrove is an ideal place base to discover the wonderful moorland scenery and the many coastal towns and villages in the area, making it a great holiday base.

All the facilities were as listed which was great for our stay and the added bonus of just a short walk to the Kascane, cafe bar. The food at Kascane is very reasonable and we dined out 3 of the 4 night we stayed, one thing to rember is to book a table.

It was warm, cozy and clean and it was great to have a contained outdoor space for our dog. There are good walks all around Skiningrove and the beach is beautiful. Kaskane bar is amazing, great food at very reasonable prices and the staff are lovely. We will be returning.

10 mins walk to the beach and several other beaches within a short drive for great dog walks. Redcar, Saltburn and Marske. Loved it.
