About this Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast

Dunns Houses Farmhouse B&B near Otterburn in the Northumberland National Park is a charming period house dating back to the 1400s.  Set on a private working farm spread across 960 hectare, the B&B is ideally placed for exploring the National Park and within easy reach of the Northumberland Heritage Coast.  A warm welcome is assured from hosts Jane, Joe and family and three comfortable en-suite rooms with amazing rural views are available.  Pets are welcome and the great choice of local activities include walking in the Cheviots,  horse riding and golf.  Fishing is onsite along our private stretch of the River Rede.  The farmhouse is also perfect as wedding party accommodation, located close to popular wedding venues such as The Wood Hill Hall and Le Petit Chateau.

Guest Rooms

Three guest rooms have all been designed with your comfort in mind, all with en-suite facilities, welcome trays with a generous selection of teas, coffees and biscuits, WiFi, flatscreen TVs with Freeview and hairdryers.  Ironing facilities and use of a washing machine are available on request. 

The Reivers Room - either a super king or twin en-suite (please advise when booking), decorated with Laura Ashley curtains and wallpaper.  This cosy, attractive room has fabulous views facing south and a good en-suite shower.

The Rede Room - a spacious family en-suite room which can be configured as a double, twin or triple room as preferred.  This room has a modern recently fitted en-suite with a walk-in shower and fabulous south and east facing views of open countryside.

The Percy Room - a super king or twin en-suite with a powerful shower, Laura Ashley wallpaper and fabulous south and west facing views.

A full breakfast is included in booking.

Other Facilities

A communal guest lounge is located in the Victorian extension to the farmhouse dating from 1861.  Facilities include comfortable sofas and chairs, a flatscreen TV, a selection of books and guides and a traditional rocking horse.  Huge windows look out to a well-kept garden and stunning countryside beyond.

Secure cycle and motorbike storage space is available in a lock up garage and a boiler house is also onsite for drying off walkers' clothing and boots.

Cheaper per person nightly rates are available for 2 night stays or longer.  Single occupancy welcome.  Discounts for children under 14 years.  Under 3s stay free.  

Around and About

The Northumberland National Park hosts numerous events through the year and the wide range of local activities include horse riding, rock climbing, walking around the Cheviots and excellent golf courses at Rothbury and Bellingham. 

Fishing is available onsite along our private stretch of the River Rede - find out more on our website.  Hexham, Kelso and Newcastle Racecourses are within 45 minutes of Otterburn. 

Northumberland is famous for its many castles and forts, and Dunns Houses is within an easy drive of Alnwick Castle (as featured in Harry Potter), Alnwick Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle on the coast and the nearby Halls of Belsay and Wallington.  The National Trust's quirky Cragside House is also within easy reach.

Head into nearby Kielder Forest Park with a range of activities from watersports and cycling to star gazing and the Astronomical experience at the Kielder Observatory.

Dunns Houses is located along the A68 only 7 miles east of Bellingham, 3 miles west of Otterburn and 5 miles south of Rochester.

Our nearest airport is Newcastle International Airport (36 miles) and we're easily accessed off the A1(M).  The Scottish border is only 15 miles away via the A68.

Hexham, Alnwick, Morpeth, Newcastle, Hawick, Jedburgh, Bellingham and Rothbury are all within easy reach.
