The property was in an ideal position for access to the shops in Rothbury, which in turn is a great location for exploring Northumberland. A bit awkward parking the car away from the house but we managed ok after initially parking in another property's space, which wasn't clear. The neighbours were very friendly and helpful. The property was on the whole clean and well maintained. The downside for us was that both sofas were uncomfortable, I think the springs must have gone and the bed and pillows weren't much better, we both ended our stay with bad backs. Other niggles were no oven gloves in the kitchen making using the oven and grill a bit dangerous with the risk of burns when you only have teatowels to protect your hands. Also the only bin liner was the one already in the bin so we had to buy more as the recycle bin was already full when we got there. We also had to buy more toilet rolls as only 2 left for the week. Because of these issues we wouldn't stay in that property again, which is a shame as everything else was very good.

We’ve just arrived home after a weeks holiday in Rothbury, staying at Heughendon and what a fabulous stay we have had. We have stayed in several holiday cottages in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders and may I say Heughendon is one of the best for us. Comfortable, clean and very well equipped. A courtesy bottle of Prosecco and a box of shortbread on arrival was a welcome touch. The house is absolutely spotless, well equipped kitchen (electric oven, gas hob, toaster, fridge, freezer, dish washer, washing machine electric kettle and microwave) comfortable beds, lovely clean bathroom, loads of space and an ideal base to explore Northumberland. We visited West Woodburn, Otterburn, Alnwick, Wooler, Jedburgh and ofcourse Rothbury and Cragside, and plenty of county walks. Absolutely fabulous and at a very reasonable price.Thank You.

Had a lovely week here, cottage was really clean and spacious. Seemed freshly decorated and lovely and warm and comfy.Would not recommend for dogs though as not secure. Gaps around gate and wall not very high. Our spaniel had no trouble jumping the wall. Also no stair gate to keep dogs from going up stairs as you come through the front door which is the only way in .small gated area is very in even and could easily twist your ankles.
