East Cottage is in an ideal location for exploring the many visitor attractions throughout this glorious county. Only two miles from the pretty village of Rothbury with its own private stretch of salmon and trout fishing (by arrangement and seasonal), East Cottage is set on a small historical site featuring the only agricultural weigh bridge left in the UK today and a unique Grade II* listed building of National Importance. The site is linked to the Cragside, Rothbury and Coquetdale Area. The property was built by Lord Armstrong of Cragside in the 1880s as part of his Cragside Estate to show off his model farm.
The cottage has eco-friendly features and is powered by a wood burning stove and an Esse Range in the kitchen as well as a traditional electric oven and a Green Tourism Award. With a large garden to the side with lovely views, East Cottage is an idyllic location for families or friends. East Cottage is situated on a working rare breed farm with cattle, sheep and goats. The Historic Houses Association is a site of interest, tours available to book.

An excellent cottage with stunning views. Very simplistic equipment and layout, light and airy but also cosy and warm . Good parking and very friendly hosts. Easily accessible for all national trust places and the coast. Highlight was a resident peacock who the children could feed each morning!
