Amble, a bustling small harbour at the River Coquet's mouth, is a great starting point for exploring Northumberland. In addition to sandy beaches, a marina, a harbour, and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and the national park at Druridge Bay, Amble, once a centre for boatbuilding, offers all of these amenities. A variety of fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters are landed by the large fishing boats that are moored around the harbour wall. On the side of the harbour is a fish centre that sells local fish and is open to the public. It is currently mostly a shellfish hatchery to restock levels of lobster and other shellfish. Coquet Island, an rspb reserve with a sizable population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks, is located one mile south of Amble. Boat tours around the island can be booked. A short drive will take you to attractive Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, charming Warkworth with its castle, and the National Trust's Wallington Hall and Cragside, in addition to a number of excellent beaches and charming coastal villages.

Lovely and clean, in a great location easily walkable for Amble and for checking out nearby towns and beaches. The owners were quick to help out with any issues too. A couple of minor points (neither of which would stop me booking again) The car parking space was not easy to use. If you've got a small car and are good at parallel parking then you'll be OK. The parking opposite behind the Blue Bell is fine for up to 72hrs then you need a break of 6 hours before you go back. Always managed to get a space, but not guaranteed. Lovely small private garden to the front, but not enclosed. A factor to consider if you have dogs.

) It is very spacious inside and has everything that you would need. The beds were very comfortable! Amble is a gem of a town, nice pubs, shops, takeaways and the beach all within walking distance and a great location for exploring the North East, Would defo return!

The property was exactly as we expected and we thought it was good value for money Here are a couple of suggestions on improvements that we think will make the house even better 1) a bedside light in the second bedroom would be useful 2) the sofas in the living room are not that comfortable when sitting for more than an hour 3) the mattresses are a bit basic Otherwise we had a great stay Many thanks
