April House is located within easy walking distance of all the shops, pubs, cafes and harbour in this small friendly seaside town. Step through to the well-designed living room with a Smart TV. It is a lovely room to spend time relaxing with family or friends. The well-equipped kitchen is ideal for preparing meals should you wish to stay in one evening. With two bedrooms, April House is an ideal size for your family short break or well deserved holiday by the sea.
The harbour area has a popular Sunday morning market with a mixture of stalls. The little harbour village has a selection of shopping pods selling local crafts, food and drinks. Little Shore beach has pretty beach huts for hire, a treat whilst on your holiday. A walk along the pier is pleasant with some gorgeous sunsets to finish off your day. Amble has bespoke shops, plenty of cafes, fish and chip shops and a highly acclaimed Italian-style ice cream parlour all within easy walking distance.
A stroll along the estuary leads you to Warkworth (about 2 miles). It is a picture postcard village with the castle sat at the top of the hill. Stop off in one of the friendly pubs or cafes. Further along the coast you come to Craster, Seahouses and Bamburgh, all steeped in history and lovely for a day out exploring. A little further north you can cross the tidal causeway and visit Holy Island (check the crossing time).
The railway station at Alnmouth is only a few minutesâ drive where you can board a train to Edinburgh or Newcastle and spend a great day exploring these historic cities steeped in history. Alnwick is only 15 minutes away with its majestic castle used in some Harry Potter and Downton Abbey scenes. A great experience for both adults and children where you can look around the historic town exploring the cobbled streets and shops.
The beaches up the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty remain unspoilt and under-populated, so there is always a place to find some seclusion should you wish. Cresswell and Druridge Bay beaches remain isolated most of the time and are only a short drive. Whilst in Northumberland why not take a trip over to Hadrianâs Wall for a completely different day trip away from the coast and discover more about the Romans and the famous Roman wall. Wherever you go in this super friendly county you will be sure of a real warm âGeordieâ welcome from the locals.

I found April House to be exceptionally clean. The kitchen, though small, is well equipped and there is plenty of crockery etc. The beds were comfortable, although, as a previous guest mentioned in their review, the duvets are too thick for this time of year. I always take a sheet and large throw away with me so this wasn't too much of a problem. Four of us were here for a week so a washing would have been a great asset. I wonder if the owner has thought of plumbing one in next to the sink in the bathroom as there would be plenty of room there.The cottage is in a good location for exploring Amble and some of the lovely places nearby, such as Warkworth, Druridge Bay country park and many others. My only real criticism would be the seating in the living area. We all found it to be uncomfortable, the sofa being too big and deep and the two other chairs were totally inadequate for sitting on for any length of time as they are only occasional chairs. Despite this I would recommend April House and would stay again if we return to the area.

The cottage itself was good but we did have a few issues re heating also went well let our two doggies out for a wee baring in mind they are chiwshas our youngest one fell in the drain outside lots ofpwater coming from next doors cottage which. Was running in yard disappointed
