About this property

Haltwhistle 0.7 miles. Stone Lodge is a welcoming house on the outskirts of Halthwistle, Northumberland. Situated within a short distance of Hadrian's wall with footpaths leading to the wall running close by through the adjacent open fields, the property is ideally placed for families and groups of friends. The property is sure to inspire those seeking space, excellent outdoor amenities and easy access to Northumberland National Park, boasting partial ground-floor living, a toasty woodburning stove and a bubbling hot tub. Arriving through the gated entrance, you'll find ample parking on the driveway, along with lockable bike storage and an EV charging point, making settling in simple from the moment you arrive.

Steps lead to the porch where muddy boots can be left on a boot rack; beyond this is a spacious hallway with a convenient cloakroom. Gather everyone around the table in the large dining room to plan the adventures ahead, then retire to the sitting room where the stylish woodburning stove brings warmth and character to evenings spent watching a favourite film on the Smart TV. The kitchen is designed with social occasions in mind, centred around a breakfast bar, alongside an oven and hob and a range of useful appliances for preparing everything from hearty breakfasts to celebratory suppers. A second sitting room provides another inviting place to spread out with a good book or settle down in front of the Smart TV, while doors open into the conservatory where seating is perfectly positioned for admiring views across the Tyne Valley and beyond, from here you can access the large patio area, ideal for an outdoor meal together or just soaking up the sun.

Upstairs, the bedrooms offer plenty of flexibility for different group arrangements. Wake slowly in the spacious master bedroom, complete with its own en-suite shower room and seating area, while two further double rooms and a triple room provide restful places to recharge after days spent exploring the county. The family bathroom adds a touch of indulgence with its large bath, walk-in shower and double basin, making busy mornings that little bit easier. The lower-ground floor offers a utility space, ideal for making a warm drink or drying wet coats. A shower room, single bedroom and double bedroom along with a sofa and cinema screen; direct access to the driveway makes this level particularly appealing for guests seeking a little extra privacy or easier access.

Outside, the enclosed garden invites long afternoons in the fresh air. Dine on the patio, unwind on the decking, stretch out on the lawn with the dogs, enjoy a quiet moment in the summer house or sink into the hot tub beneath the evening sky. When it's time to venture out, you'll find shops and welcoming pubs within easy reach, while the nearby river offers scenic walks through the surrounding countryside. Northumberland National Park lies close by and provides endless opportunities to discover rolling landscapes, walking trails and some of the darkest skies in England. A visit to Hexham rewards guests with the magnificent Hexham Abbey, the atmospheric Old Gaol and the attractive Sele Park, perfect for a gentle afternoon stroll.

Venture to Once Brewed to explore The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre, follow stretches of Hadrian's Wall and take in sweeping views across the dramatic Northumberland countryside. Further afield, Kielder Water & Forest Park offers waterside walks, cycling routes and internationally recognised dark sky experiences, creating memorable days out for visitors of all ages. The coast of Northumberland is also within reach, providing beach days and seaside walks. Whether you're soaking in the hot tub after a day on the trails, gathering in front of the woodburning stove or discovering the spectacular scenery of Northumberland National Park, Stone Lodge provides a wonderful base for making lasting holiday memories.

Known as the 'Centre of Britain', this small market town is a great place from which to explore both Northumberland and Cumbria. Haltwhistle boasts a good range of shops and pubs - one of which, The Black Bull, is a real ale pub serving good food! There is an excellent leisure centre with heated open air swimming pool and cycle hire in the town, with pony trekking nearby. One of the best preserved stretches of Hadrian's Wall is only a mile to the north with various museums, forts and milecastles to be seen. There is even an ongoing 'dig' at the nearby site of Vindolanda. This truly is magnificent walking, riding and cycling country, with the Pennine Way and various bridleways and cycle routes passing rivers, forests, castles and of course, Hadrian's Wall. Visitors will enjoy this location in all weather and all seasons – a regular train and bus service from the town to Newcastle, The Metro Centre and Carlisle, means that you can leave the car behind and enjoy!
