About this property

Settled in the picturesque coastal village of Beadnell, along the Northumberland coast, is this tasteful, first-floor apartment, 2 Apple Tree. Offering a light and airy feel with a shared patio with garden furniture, this welcoming abode is an ideal base for couples seeking a prime position in Northumberland. Be welcomed by off-road parking and unpack with ease before settling down in the open-plan living space, where you can relax on the sofas and plan the holiday ahead. Cross over to the kitchen, where there is a selection of appliances and plenty of space to whip up a tasty treat, whilst the dining table is perfect for hosting romantic mealtimes. After a feast, pop on the dishwasher and discover the bedroom, housing a sumptuous king-size bed with TV and en-suite shower room. Start the morning with a coffee before heading out to explore the surroundings; why not spend a moment in the communal garden? Beadnell is an attractive village and offers two pubs where you can refuel along an adventure, a café for morning coffees and a convenience store for grabbing the essentials. Head to the golden sands of Beadnell Beach, where you can tackle the sand dunes or head to the sailing club in search of a scuba diving experience. If you want to get out to sea, there are boat tours of the Serenity Farne Islands, Grey Seals Cruises, and daily trips to the Billy Shiel Farne Islands. Lace up your walking boots and ramble the spectacular Northumberland Coast AONB or head to Bamburgh for a slice of history at Bamburgh Castle. Elsewhere you can visit Northumberland County Zoo to see the rare snow leopards and lemurs, uncover the market town of Alnwick for its iconic Castle, used for filming in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, or head for a stroll around Hulne Park, once the hunting grounds of the Percy family. Choose 2 Apple Tree for a splendid break to Northumberland.

This charming and tranquil harbour community is located next to Beadnell Bay, one of Northumberland's most stunning parts of the Heritage Coastline. Beadnell, which dates back to the Saxon era, was once a significant fishing community and a sanctuary for smugglers. Although though it is still a fishing community today, tourists often visit to take advantage of the charming harbour and, of course, the neighbouring sandy beaches. A store, two pubs, and a café with meals are all present in the village. Little over a mile away, the well-known Seahouses offers restaurants, a supermarket, stores, and boat cruises to the lovely Farne Islands, a sanctuary for bird lovers. While Alnwick, a market town with a castle, gardens, shops, pubs, and restaurants, is only a short drive from Bamburgh, it is also close by.

Everything was provided - even a bottle of wine! Good location. Will stay again in this apartment.

The apartment was as expected from the photographs and description. Entry was a no problem once we had identified which doorway was the entrance to our apartment since there was at least one other with the same number but a different building name. Eventually we gained entry with the code. For future visitors please be advised that it is the doorway labelled “Bramley”. The flat was not warm on entry but quickly warmed up once the 3 electric wall heaters were switched on. The only downside was the fact that each one needed to have the temperature adjusted individually. The electric towel rail was effective at heating the bathroom but the temperature adjustment was a little difficult because the LCD display was not easy to read without very close inspection. Once the immersion heater (in the cupboard in the bedroom) was switched on there was plenty of hot water with no further adjustments needed. The shower had plenty of pressure and worked well. The bed was comfortable bed but the sofa was rather soft and one side was very saggy for our taste. There was however one single armchair that was comfortable. The kitchen was good with an adequate range of utensils, crockery and appliances. The television in the living room was good (we did not bother watching the one in the bedroom) from our point of view. The private rubbish collection does not collect glassware or bottles and these need to be taken to a local recycling centre. There appears to be only one type of collection so we do not know how much of our rubbish was recycled. The area was quiet with no noise from neighbours. The only disturbance was from the crunch of gravel from cars entering and leaving the pub car park which was immediately behind the building. There are two public houses, providing food, as well as a bistro in the centre of the village which is at the most 1-2 minutes walk away; the nearest pub is called the Craster Arms which was the one we frequented. It has a good range of beers and food. It can get busy in the evenings so it may be best to book a table for food if you want to avoid a wait. For those with dog allergies, beware that on busy nights there were always a lot of accompanied dogs. All in all a most pleasant stay and we would recommend both the flat and the area to visitors.
