Dating back to the late nineteenth century, Old Coastguard Cottages in Amble, Northumberland, directly overlooks a small bay and harbour creating simply sublime views and making it the perfect holiday destination for a family or friends travelling together. The warm and welcoming living space makes the most of those captivating coastal views with feature windows framing the room and together with a woodburning stove and comfy seating, makes for a really inviting room. Step into the kitchen which is equipped with everything needed to produce delicious food for the whole holiday party and when it’s time for tea, take a seat at the rustic dining table and indulge in long and relaxed meals together. To the front of the property there is a charming sloping garden which overlooks the sea and is the ideal spot for getting up close and personal to the ever-changing sea views. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an rspb reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The cottage was the perfect choice. Fabulous views and a lovely homely feel to it, well equipped with everything you need.

Comfortable, warm, plenty of space. We will be coming back, our dogs enjoyed the beach and walks right from the cottage front door. Didnât move the car for first few days. Just relaxed, and enjoyed Amble. Ticked all the boxes for us. Oh and the views from the cottage, spectacular!

There were 4 of us staying and our dog, so many walks along the beach, pier and breakwater just because we could from the cottage as well as many trips to favourite beaches nearby. The views were just stunning, we have stayed often at Amble over the years even one further down bay view terrace but none as well equipped and picture postcard proximity to the beach. So booked again for same time next year, can't wait.
