Guests say

Paddy's Mount Cottage is praised for its high standard of presentation, cleanliness, and superb location for exploring Northumberland. Guests appreciate the comfortable, spacious, and well-equipped accommodation, with special mentions of the tranquil setting and proximity to beaches and attractions. While some minor maintenance issues and personal touches are noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many planning return visits.

The property is generally described as immaculately clean, with only a couple of isolated incidents suggesting room for improvement. Most guests found the cottage to be very clean, contributing to a high score in this category.

The location is highly praised for its peacefulness and proximity to beaches, towns, and attractions. It is considered ideal for exploring the Northumbrian coast and countryside, leading to a very high score.

The cottage is frequently described as comfortable and spacious, with comfortable beds and large settees. However, some guests mentioned uncomfortable beds and a sofa, which slightly lowers the score.

Facilities are generally well-received, with the property being well-equipped. Nonetheless, there are comments about missing kitchen utensils, TV reception issues, and a lack of a visitors' book, indicating some areas for improvement.

While a welcome pack is mentioned positively in one review, there is no consistent reference to gifts or additional thoughtful touches across the reviews. As such, it is not possible to accurately score this category.

About this property

Nestling in an idyllic rural location close to Embleton in Northumberland, Paddy’s Mount Cottage is a stunning Grade II listed barn conversion which cleverly combines traditional features with all the mod cons you would expect from a top quality holiday home and is the ideal holiday destination for a family holiday. The open-plan living area has that real ‘wow’ factor with an attractive vaulted ceiling, feature floor-to-ceiling windows, tiled flooring and clean, white walls, all adding up to create a really light and airy space. Step into the stylish, fully fitted kitchen and you will find all that’s needed to be able to produce good food for your holiday party.

When the food is ready to serve up, there is an attractive dining table with rustic table and chairs inviting guests to take a seat and look forward to relaxing meals together. If the weather allows, then there are delightful gardens with breath-taking rural views and a patio area, where any children or dogs can run around while the grown-ups can relax and soak up the views. When it’s time for bed, there are two bedrooms to choose from; a king-size and a twin. They are both charming and even come with a TV each, so no need to worry about missing out on your favourite telly!

After a quick shower or relaxing bath in the morning, you’re good to go and ready to explore the delights of Northumberland on the doorstep. Newton-by-the-Sea is nearby Close by is the picturesque fishing village of Beadnell which is also worth a visit. Beadnell Bay offers miles of sandy beaches with loads of delightful coastal paths ideal for a hike rewarded with some fantastic views along the way. Attractions worth a visit include Dunstanburgh Castle, Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland Country Zoo and RSPB reserves at Hauxley and Annstead. Giving guests a memorable holiday in a beautiful location, Paddys Mount Cottage has it all.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

Well-equipped - it had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Location is great - just a short drive from the beautiful Embleton Bay. Alnwick, with all it has to offer, is also just a short drive away and Holy Island within a half hour or so. Highly recommended.

Only 1 downside was we couldn't work out how to use the cooker hob as there was no manual. Did use the oven and grill

It was clean, well set up and became a home away from home. Beautiful home in a beautiful location. We liked it so much we are booking in again for next year.
