About this property

Having been tastefully converted, Nightfold Cottage, Alnwick, Northumberland, is an ideal destination for a relaxing get away. Boasting a vaulted ceiling, tiled flooring, exposed stonework and a feature wooden staircase, the property exudes a traditional yet contemporary vibe. High ceilings, velux windows, and a large arch window in the living room provide a light and airy space. The kitchen/diner is fully appointed with everything required for a self-catering break.

Benches in both the lawned garden and courtyard area are perfectly placed to enjoy a sunrise or late evening sunshine. Alnwick is dominated by its stunning castle, the setting for Hogwarts School as featured in the Harry Potter films and the multi award winning gardens with Europe’s largest cascading water feature.

The market town also has an excellent selection of shops and amenities including the famous Barter Books, Alnwick Playhouse, a Golf Course and a Leisure Centre.

There are miles of sandy beaches to explore close-by and nearby coastal villages include Alnmouth, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Warkworth and Beadnell.

Taking a short boat trip to the Farne Islands, from Seahouses, you can look for puffins and seals, depending on the season.

The castles of Northumberland are numerous and impressive; Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth, Lindisfarne, Dunstanburgh, Chillingham and more.

Offering well-presented accommodation in a beautiful rural setting, Nightfold Cottage is perfectly located to reach all areas of stunning Northumberland.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

Parking easy and the cottage has everything you need. The only negative thing are the two deep steps from the kitchen to the living space. Some people may find these difficult.

Superb base for visiting Northumberland. The cottage is immaculate in its presentation, lacking nothing and being in such relaxing and peaceful surroundings...the concern about the internal steps diminishes with use...perhaps a minor warning might be made about the protruding cooker hood. NO COMPLAINTS.....we had a wonderful time and will be booking again before we inform our associates, friends and relatives.... Harry and Kath Matthews.....
