About this property

Alnwick 2 miles. Enjoying a superb location resting in the heart of the idyllic countryside surrounding Alnwick in Northumberland, Mossyford Cottage is a delightful rural holiday home which is just perfect for a romantic break for two. Immaculately presented, the interior is bright and airy with an open-plan living space offerings loads of room for lounging with an inviting sitting area, ornamental fireplace, exposed ceiling beams and solid wood flooring, all adding up to create a really welcoming ambience. To complete the room, there is an elegant dining area where guests can look forward to romantic meals together. Talking of meals, the designated chef will be delighted with the country-style kitchen which is fully fitted with everything needed to produce intimate meals for two. An attractive breakfast bar with stools overlooking the gardens, offers a wonderful spot for less formal dining. When it’s time to make your way to bed, you will be pleased with the stylish master bedroom which has Velux windows allowing light to flood in as well as a TV and a sumptuous king-size bed just asking for you to sink into it. After a night of recharging your batteries, you can have a quick shower or bath and you’ll be ready to get out and about exploring. Alnwick is within a short distance and is well worth a visit while you’re staying at Mossyford Cottage. Alnwick is dominated by its stunning castle and gardens which boasts Europe’s largest cascading water feature. The castle’s other claim to fame is that it was the setting for Hogwarts School as featured in the Harry Potter films. The town also has a good selection of shops and amenities as well as miles of beaches to explore. Nearby coastal towns worth visiting include Alnmouth, Seahouses, Warkworth and Beadnell with trips to Farne Islands popular where you can look out for unusual birds and even seals. Other attractions include Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland Country Zoo and Bailiffgate Museum and Gallery. Offering a romantic rural idyll which is wonderfully presented and nestles in beautiful countryside, a stay at Mossyford Cottages promises to be a break to remember.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

This cottage is probably the best of all we have ever stayed in. Holly and Grant are brilliant hosts nothing is too much for them. The cottage is so homely with beautifully decorated rooms. There are many superb examples of Holly's skill in all aspects of crafting which adds to the charm of the cottage. There is nothing that is excluded from the equipment in the cottage. Everything has been thought of to ensure the holiday was so enjoyable. It was very difficult to say goodbye to this property, however we look forward to returning if and when there is a vacancy.
