About this property

Hedwig House is a gorgeous period property spread out over three stories, located in the heart of Alnwick, Northumberland. Hedwig House is a great option for a group or family of six, as it is dog-friendly, conveniently located near the Northumberland Coast AONB and the Northumberland National Park, and the interior features a wealth of character and charming Harry Potter touches. The property benefits from roadside parking and a wonderful front patio with bistro table.

The ground floor features a fully-stocked kitchen, perfect for whipping up tasty meals to share with friends and family over a bottle of wine and tunes on the vintage style record player There is a convenient utility room/wc right off the kitchen. On balmier evenings, why not dine out in the rear enclosed garden? After dinner, retreat to the light and airy sitting room, where you can relax on the sumptuous seating in front of a film on the Smart TV with Netlifx, as your pooches curl up in front of the open fire.

Ascend the stairs to the first floor, where you'll find two exquisitely furnished king-size bedrooms and a luxurious bathroom with a bath and a rainfall shower. The final bedroom, a twin with zip/link, can be found on the second floor, and features character exposed beams.

Wander around town and stop by the beautiful Alnwick Gardens, the challenging but rewarding Alnwick Castle Golf Club, Hulne Park for a picnic, the Bailiffgate Museum, a convenience store, and the delicious Caffe Tirreno, The Dirty Bottles, and Di Sopra for refreshments.

To continue, head to Alnmouth, where you can enjoy a day at Alnmouth Beach, stop by the Ferryman's Hut, hop on the England Coast Path and hike all the way to Bamburgh, and then feast on some delicious seafood at Northumberland Street Food. In Bamburgh, further afield, you can visit the RNLI Grace Darling Museum, Bamburgh Beach, Bamburgh Lighthouse, Bamburgh Castle, and The Copper Kettle Tea rooms. Your adventure to Northumberland begins at Hedwig House.

Alnwick Castle, residence of the Duke of Northumberland, stands as a dominant feature in the otherwise picturesque and historic market town of Alnwick. To the delight of amateur and professional gardeners alike, the 2002-opened Castle Gardens are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden, and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden. The castle is well-known for its use as the location of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter film series. The town's main square, marked by a stone cross, remains unchanged from the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through, and it serves as the perfect setting for the town's weekly Saturday market. Nearby attractions include miles of sandy beaches, dozens of castles, and boat trips to the world-famous Farne Islands, but Alnwick itself has a nice selection of shops, pubs, and restaurants. As a whole, it's a great base from which to discover Northumberland and its breathtaking Heritage Coast.
