About this property

Resting in the centre of the picturesque market town of Alnwick, Crier Cottage is the ideal base for a family looking to explore the history and scenery of Northumberland. Be welcomed into a terraced stone cottage, where a homely sitting/dining area encourages you to get cosy in a selection of sofas beside a stone fireplace, housing a warming woodburning stove, and here you will also find the dining table, ideal for family meals and games nights. The kitchen is illuminated by skylights and houses many amenities, decorated with white furniture contrasting with dark tiled floors, it is a lovely spot to rustle up a storm. The property offers a tasteful double bedroom with storage and a bunk bedroom, ideal for children, and there is also a bathroom where you can take a relaxing soak amongst the bubbles. Outside, dine alfresco in a pretty courtyard with a pink wall, bare stone walls and pretty shrubs. Alnwick is a fantastic location for you to begin your Northumberland holiday, and there are many local pubs, restaurants, cafes and a convenience store within easy reach of the property. Hulne Park offers riverside walks, and there is the option to enjoy a game of golf at the local club, as well as the fantastic Alnwick Castle, which is well worth a visit. If you wish to spend a day at the seaside, head over to Alnmouth where there is a beautiful sandy beach and access to coastal walks. Explore the wonders of Northumberland with a stay at Crier Cottage.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

It’s very convenient for the excellent Alnwick town centre and therefore can be a little noisy a times, it didn’t bother us at all and I guess if you are looking at booking such a convenient property it won’t bother you either. We will definitely return.

We had everything we needed. Kitchen was excellent. The only negative I would mention is the towels. After only one use, one of the small hand towels developed a bad smell, a “ sweaty feet” smell. Later in the week a couple of other towels began to smell. It’s very strange as everything else was fine.

Very clean & very well equipped with everything you need for a perfect stay with nice comfy beds. Close to shops, restaurants & pubs just a short walk away. We had great days out to Seahouses, Amble, Holy Island is a must see & Berwick. Visited Craiser on the way home for the famous kippers. 1st time in Northumberland & would return. Thanks again for the lovely welcome pack.
