Alnwick is a pretty, historical town with a medieval castle to explore as well as beautiful gardens and museum. Perhaps you'll watch a show at the Playhouse or visit Barter Books, a large second-hand bookshop that's located in the old railway station. The coastal village of Alnmouth is just 4.5 miles away, head there for sea views and rock pooling or to access the coastal path, which runs the length of the county. Take the bikes and meander 6 miles to Boulmer, stopping for fish and chips before cycling back.
