About this property

Settled into the picturesque market town of Alnwick, Aln Cottage is within easy reach of local attractions, making it an ideal for a family looking to explore the coast of Northumberland. Be welcomed into this stone-built terraced cottage and settle into the siting/dining area with a cup of coffee, enjoying the eye-catching stone fireplace and the selection of books available to you. When mealtimes call, a kitchen with tiled walls and a countryside cottage feel encourages you to use the many amenities to cook a heart-warming meal, and you can even enjoy a cup of coffee outside on the bench as you watch the world go by. After a long day of exploring, freshen up in the bathroom before getting cosy in one of the two well-presented bedrooms, a king-size and a single. Alnwick is a riverside town with a lot on offer for guests, beginning with the selection of eateries, ranging from cafes to pubs, and you can stock up on amenities at the local supermarket or convenience store. Alnwick enjoys stunning countryside surroundings, so why not head over to Hulne Park where walks beside the river and through countryside and forests can be had, and from here you can even visit the fantastic Alnwick Castle and grounds? Barter Books is a literature lover's dream, with many books for you to browse, as well as a tea shop where cake and tea can be had, or there is the option of heading over to Alnmouth, where you can enjoy a day by the coast, and from here you can visit Warkworth Castle and beach. Make the ideal trip to Northumberland with a stay at Aln Cottage.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

Location is perfect and the cottage was very comfortable, as was the bed. We got to see the "MUSICAL CHRISTMAS" show at the Playhouse which was excellent. The Playhouse is a lovely theatre and would recommend it if there is anything on. We would definitely stay again.

Right in the centre of town, and walking distance to everything in Alnwick! It was like a home-from-home with everything thought of to make sure our stay was trouble-free, and it was spotlessly clean. Only 2 things to mention that weren't perfect, the first of which was that the hot water tended to be temperamental when showering, and secondly the double mattress was very hard - I found it quite uncomfortable, but I know you can't please everyone when it comes to mattresses! We were delighted with our stay, though, and next time (because it's a brilliant place) I'll see if I can't pack a mattress topper!

A lotof thought has obviously gone into making Aln Cottage as 'home from home' as possible. There is plenty to do and see in Alnwick and it's a great base if you want to venture further afield. Not having to worry about parking is a massive plus.
