Further afield, visit Bamburgh (17.5 miles) with its dramatic castle, or spend afternoons on Warkworth’s sandy beach (7.5 miles). Go south to reach Alnmouth (4.5 miles) for its lively pubs, or Amble (9 miles) for a stroll around the harbour. To the north, you’ll find Craster (7 miles), best known for its kipper smokehouse.
Step through the front door to be greeted by lofty ceilings and an elegant staircase that sets the tone for the rest of this Grade II-listed home. The decor is tasteful throughout, with feature wallpaper, cohesive colour schemes and quality wooden furniture and doors.
