A stylish and spacious bolthole in the heart of a bustling coastal village, St Julians ticks all the boxes.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.

It was a very relaxing place to be. The only reason I said it wasn't perfect in terms of maintenance was because we needed to wash some of the pans etc before using.

It was good to have a parking permit as parking can be a nightmare wherever you stay. Altogether a really nice holiday

The only thing which would stop me coming back is the noise of footsteps from the flat above. This could be a personal thing, which we just aren't used to, but at times it was so noisy..particularly when there were kids up there. Nothing you can do about that, I know, which is why have still given 5 stars. Minor points..champagne flutes would have been nice. Bit more cutlery perhaps (only 6 means running dishwasher or washing up more often) and a tea cosy for the teapot. But that is being picky, as it is very well kitted out. A gem of a find..
