About this property

Tynemouth Village Penthouse is an elegantly-styled penthouse nestled across the third and fourth floors in a historic Georgian building in the heart of the seaside town of Tynemouth, in the North East region of England. This property is perfect for anyone looking to explore this wonderful location and benefits from being within striking distance of a range of tourist attractions. Climb the steps to the third floor and find a stunning and spacious kitchen/diner with breath-taking sea views. On return from one of your adventures, you can rustle up a hearty meal in the fully-equipped kitchen and get everyone together at the dining table to tuck in and toast to a wonderful holiday with a glass of champagne which you can also take into the grand Georgian sitting room with views over the village. Up a smaller set of stairs to a half landing, you will discover a super-king-size bedroom and steps lead up again to the fourth floor which also holds two super-king-sizes bedrooms, each with zip and link features and can be separated into single beds upon request, ideal for flexible sleeping arrangements. Tynemouth was voted the best place to live in the North of England in the Sunday Times 2018 awards and is an excellent choice for a holiday due to its coastal location and easy access to three nearby beaches including Tynemouth Beach, King Edward's Bay or Long Sands Beach, all giving the opportunity for swimming, surfing, or playing a variety of beach games. For a spot of history, venture towards the ruins of Tynemouth Priory and Castle, or the ancient fortification of Arbeia in South Shields. Tynemouth Aquarium is perfect for your little ones, as is Tynemouth Park which has family mini golf, a soft play area and even a boating lake. It was a Christmas booking and I had asked if we could take some decorations. Steve the owner said he was going to do that anyway and the place was magical with a big tree in the living room corner and lit garland over a bookcase etc. We took a few of our own as well. The apartment is very spacious and rambling but in a great way. Shower was very good and a great tub to soak in too. The kitchen was great and well kitted out but no dishwasher which was fine. Views across to the sea and old cottages , houses and the castle from a large window in the kitchen and a good-sized table for us all to eat around. The beds were huge and very very comfortable, and we slept well every night. The living room fronts Front Street and its many bars and restaurants and gets busy at weekends but as the bedrooms are high up it didn't disturb us. On arrival we had rather a lot of luggage and Steve asked his son to help us with the climb up the stairs which was a great help. Tynemouth was great and there were plenty of restaurants, bars, gift and clothes shops. We particularly liked Davanti Classico next to Tynemouth station. Their pizzas and steaks are freshly made and prepared and the portions and quality of the sauces and pasta dishes were amazing. Finally, I would like to thank Steve our host and his welcoming wife, and son for the attention and assistance they gave us. Nothing was too much trouble especially from Steve. Thanks very much from all four of us.

Loved the quirky layout! The view to sea from the kitchen balcony was beautiful both at night and day. Remember your binoculars Steve and Louise were lovely hosts, came to welcome us in and gave us the parking permits. They lived close by if we needed them but thankfully everything went well. We had a great time.

Boasting gorgeous views across the harbour and out to sea, it is located right in the heart of Tynemouth, with shops and cafes literally on the doorstep and the metro station with it's bustling weekend market only a five minute walk away. Steve, the owner, was on hand to welcome us and show us round the quirky, multi-level apartment when we arrived; he even ensured we found a good place to park just round the corner! We had a lovely stay and hope to return again. Perfect base for exploring Tynemouth and surrounding area.
