About this property

Set in an area of unspoilt natural beauty, this traditional cottage resting at the heart of the charming riverside village of Reedham, nestles on the banks of the River Yare. Foundry Cottage offers accommodation for up to four guests, perfect for couples or friends to relax and unwind in this rural area of The Norfolk Broads, the property is accessed via a quiet country lane with private parking, step in through the porch, take off your shoes and begin to relax in this cosy retreat. The modern kitchen is well-equipped providing guests with all the essentials to prepare either a simple snack or a hearty meal to enjoy around the cosy farmhouse table or in the gravelled garden outside. Leading through from the kitchen area is a snug, comfortable living room with a sofa and two armchairs to relax into, the perfect place to chat, make plans for your holiday or to simply escape into your favourite programme or film. Also on the ground floor you can find the luxurious bathroom, home to a roll-top bath with the option of an overhead or handheld shower, alternatively, a soak in the bath after a long day exploring is the perfect end to the day. Upstairs are two tastefully presented bedrooms, the master bedroom has a king size bed and the second bedroom has a double bed. Having enjoyed a restful night’s sleep, stroll down the leafy lane to the river, no matter what time of the year it might be, you will never be disappointed by the stunning views, don’t forget to bring your camera or your paintbrush! Should you feel like some refreshments, you may be tempted by the selection of tasty food and drinks offered from the three, dog-friendly pubs within walking distance of the cottage, one of these, The Ferry Inn, is situated next to the famous Reedham Chain Ferry, and like the other pubs, is an idyllic spot to sit and enjoy the river views. The waterside post office which is open three times per week, boasts a dual purpose as it is also a delightful tea room serving hot and cold beverages, yummy cakes, sandwiches and panninis, the local popular chip shop, open Thursday to Saturday, serves a selection of traditional fish and chips, a well-stocked village shop is just around the corner for any immediate needs or a larger supermarket can be located in Acle, a sixteen minute journey by car, Reedham also boasts its own brewery, The Humpty Dumpty Brewery, which sells a wide range of bottled craft beers and mini casks, local gins, cider and a tantalising selection of local products, perfect as a treat for yourself or a welcome gift for others. Next door to the brewery is Pettits Animal Adventure Park, which offers hours of fun for the family with its friendly animals, fairground, shows and plenty more. There is plenty to do in Reedham and the wider surroundings of The Broads, it is a place where you can simply relax and watch the boats, listen to the reeds gently rustling in the breeze and observe the playful antics of the ducks on the river; for the more energetic, there is a variety of water sports available, such as canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding, perhaps a relaxing boat trip might be a more preferable way to venture across the waterways. For those of you who prefer to keep their feet on firmer ground, Reedham offers fantastic walking opportunities including The Wherryman’s Way which runs through the heart of the Broads, winding along the banks of the River Yare, through open marshes, reedbeds, grazing meadows and riverside villages. Bring your binoculars so you do not miss out on sightings of the wildlife and birds particular to the area. There are plenty of delightful roads and lanes for those of you who enjoy cycling, taking advantage of the flatter terrain, the area is also ideal for those who enjoy fishing with the variety of river, coastal and lake waters in close proximity to the cottage. Being almost equidistant from the coast and Norwich allows an even greater choice of activities, enjoy popular coastal towns such as Great Yarmouth and the different attractions on offer, the coastline has many beautiful beaches, ideal for fun days out or energising walks observing the wildlife including the chance to spot seals in their natural environment.

The village station is only a ten to fifteen minute walk from the cottage, a twenty minute train ride from Reedham will take you into the historic city of Norwich, a wonderful fusion of the modern and the historic, this medieval city has a flourishing arts, music and cultural scene as well as superb independent and high street shops, lively restaurants, bars and nightlife. Foundry Cottage in Reedham enjoys the best of both worlds, the peace and tranquility offered by its unique rural location in The Norfolk Broads whilst at the same time in close proximity to both the coast and the beautiful city of Norwich.

The house was cosy, beautiful town and a great location to venture out to support. Oonagh was always responsive to any queries we had. Definitely would recommend to those considering this property.

Only disadvantage was no upstairs toilet. We had an enjoyable holiday. Thanks to all.

Cottage was well equipped. Outside area nice and secure for our little dog. A stone's throw from the lovely riverside, 2 nice pubs, a well-stocked convenience store and a lovely cafe/deli. Would definitely stay there again.
