Gamekeeper’s Lodge is a romantic luxury cottage for four in South Raynham, just a 20-minute drive from the beautiful North Norfolk coast. There are wonderful walks right from the doorstep, a number of village inns close by and lots of history to explore, including Sandringham and Holkham Hall.
The Norfolk flint exterior gives this Grade II listed property a fairytale appearance, with a pretty wrap-around garden to boot. Inside, you’ll find Farrow and Ball walls in muted greys, lavenders and greens, along with many original features, including wooden shutters, Norfolk pamment stone floors and stripped floorboards.
Yet there are some very modern touches too. The overall effect is 18th century styling, with contemporary comforts throughout, including a wood burning stove, 55" flat screen television and an Alexa in the living room, as well as a smeg fridge freezer in the well-appointed kitchen.
The bathrooms are equally indulgent, with roll-top baths, while the beds have 2000 sprung mattresses and 800 thread count linens. Please note, there is restricted head height in the second bedroom and bathroom.
On winter nights, simply light the wood burning stove and snuggle down in front of the fire to plan your next day’s agenda. Or on sunny mornings, there’s nothing better than taking a scenic walk along the river Wensum before heading to the Dabbling Duck in Great Massingham for lunch.

Very poor dark house need the lights on in the kitchen and hallway all the time difficult stairs for elderly no micro wave for someone who needs it for medical reasons range cooker with no instructions and couldn’t get in the garden as gate was totally stuck tv a nightmare no sound every morning with no clear instructions of how to use it . The picture you use does not reflect the outside of the house as it now is . The hamper included no cereals but sausages out of date the day after arrival and the fruit was 2 tangerines !! We have done self catering for 40 years and certainly one of the worst we have stayed in.

The cottage was good- well prepared, full of character and welcoming. However, there were some aspects we didn't find so good. The welcome box was missing several items -cereal, wine, butter and marmalade. Athough some extras had been included, if you arrived late, you would be faced with dry toast for the morning.There was a very worn knob on the oven and no instructions to help, which as there was no micro-wave, had obviously caused others a problem.The central heating was too high in the bedroom and no means of turning it off. We turned the heating down to 18, but still the boiler was on throughout the night.

A wonderful cottage very tastefully renovated and presented. The only negatives I would mention is the noise from the busy road the property adjoins and that the water in the downstairs shower never gets very hot. In every other respect the property is excellent.
