Guests say

The Old Stables is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in a peaceful location, ideal for walkers, dog owners, and those seeking a relaxing break. Guests consistently praise its proximity to local attractions, secure gardens, and cosy atmosphere. Thoughtful touches such as welcome cakes and wine are appreciated, though not always provided. Some minor issues are noted, including occasional cleaning lapses, soft mattresses, and the need for minor updates, but these do not detract from the overall positive experience. The property is highly recommended for its comfort, location, and dog-friendly features.

Most guests found the cottage clean and welcoming, though several mentioned the need for a deeper clean, particularly at the end of the season and in some areas like bathrooms and lampshades. Overall, cleanliness is good but could be improved with more thorough attention.

The location is frequently described as excellent, peaceful, and ideal for walking, with easy access to Cley next the Sea, local pubs, shops, and the coast. Guests appreciate the quiet setting and proximity to amenities.

The cottage is generally considered very comfortable and spacious, with cosy evenings by the fire and good heating. Some guests found mattresses too soft and noted the bedrooms could be cool, but these were minor issues for most.

Facilities are praised for being well-equipped, especially the kitchen and secure gardens for dogs. Some guests noted missing items, outdated guides, and minor maintenance needs such as new sofas or a lick of paint, but overall the amenities meet expectations.

Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches like welcome cakes, wine, and dog treats, though it is politely noted that these are not guaranteed for every stay. The effort to make guests feel welcome is frequently mentioned and valued.

Nice cottage very well equipped in a nice location easy to get to lots of places nice secure garden so ideal for dog. A couple of cushions for the outdoor seating would be nice Also an Ordinance survey map and ideas for places to visit would be good The George Hotel in Cley only a ten minute walk nice food and the Bell in Wiveton was really nice good food and a twenty minute walkSlight concern about the entrance to the lane At the bottom of a very busy hill with a blind entrance Could not see cars coming so always had to turn left towards Cley then turn round in a layby So dangerous

A lovely cottage in a great location for walking the Coastal Path , eating out at the local The George and Dragon Pub, with an amenities store close by. The courtyard garden was perfect for alfresco breakfasts and morning coffee.A surprise welcome gift of a homemade Victoria sandwich cake on arrival perfect with a cuppa.A great find

Lovely cottage and would return ... sadly, because it is a very long drive for me to get there this may take a little time. Superb location for walking onto the salt marshes and in my case bird watching. And central for exploring the North Norfolk coastCottage was very comfortable, couple of items (tray, filter coffee maker) not present but ... (I usually travel with my own, just in case!) Guide says that a list is checked - but as there was no list for me to see, I don't know what is on that list. Kitchen is lovely, spacious and mostly well equipped ... as I came with mostly pre (home) cooked meals, I didn't need to explore the items available too much.Found the guide for the cottage quite outdated. Perhaps needs a rethink around presentation - the information may be there but is hard to find. Also needs an update especially around the heating systems - more details would be useful (and probably cost the owners less in fuel expenses the long run) as well as lacking information about rubbish disposal. What goes where? Recycle or not? Different councils have different lists and I had no idea what to do with anything at all. Location of essential items was hard to find ... thinking of safety items here.A bit more local information (especially walks from the door and local places to visit) would have been useful. My next visit will be easier as I have now worked out some of these details - but they would have been useful on arrival.
