About this property

A unique opportunity to stay at an outstanding North Norfolk property. If you are a fan of Grand Designs and restoration projects, this is the place for you. Stunning modern architectural design encompasses the restored ruins of a romantic Gothic chapel and all set in beautiful, idyllic countryside a fifteen minute drive away from the coast.

Discretely tucked away, and located midway between the villages of Thursford and Great Snoring, Thursford Castle sits rather like an art installation in a private triangular shaped landscaped garden. Here ancient sits harmoniously with modern. The sumptuous and supremely comfortable single storey accommodation enjoys luxurious underfloor heating throughout and forms a glazed quadrangle set around an inner landscaped courtyard garden, with the statuesque remains of a former chapel at its helm. Beautifully furnished and light-filled throughout, this house deserves to be featured in a glossy interiors magazine, with lifestyle shots crying out from every angle.

Entering the castle through the heart of the old chapel, take a left turn to the main sociable living area with beamed ceiling. Open-plan and spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen sitting at one end, a cosy sitting area with wall-mounted television at the other and a large dining table dividing the two. Bi-fold doors, opening to the courtyard garden, almost complete one side of the room and flood it with light. A double-sided wood burning stove, inset below the television, has a sliding glass door and a sophisticated integrated vent system dotted around the top of the room which circulates warm air. Behind the sitting room, sharing the warmth and light of the wood burning stove, is a relaxing snug where you can choose to be quiet, perhaps read a favourite book or catch up with a film or series on a widescreen Smart television with both surround sound and Sky. From this side of the house a glazed hallway, again with bi-fold doors opening to the inner garden, leads to three en-suite bedrooms (two king-size and one twin) as well as an office to study, work or play in - the table football is bound to let off some competitive steam! The deluxe super-king size master suite sits alone at the opposite end of the house and enjoys its own glazed hallway on the right side of the main entrance. You are spoilt for outside space; choose to sit or dine in the pretty inner garden or stretch your legs and take a stroll around the large garden that surrounds the house.

Thursford Castle sums up a Norfolk hideaway to a tee - you really wouldn't know it was there, unless you were fortunate enough to be in on the secret. This is the owner's main and much loved home and guests are very privileged to have the opportunity to share and enjoy their dream, and inspired vision, for saving a piece of history and allowing it to become part of life once more. Groups of friends, couples and families are all welcome to have the pleasure of enjoying this very special house - all to themselves!

What an incredible location and property. We were blown away from the time we walked in to the day we left. We were met with a very warm welcome when we arrived, there were some lovely food items for us in the kitchen and we were made to feel very much at home.

I loved the look of this place online and the reality did not disappoint. The entrance to the house through a ruined chapel sets the scene and you enter a beautiful, very well designed modern house. Spacious and full of light throughout. Gorgeous bathrooms and really comfortable, large beds. There is a lovely internal courtyard and the whole house is surrounded by gardens and trees. Perfect! The position is just right for exploring north Norfolk. It is very close to Little Walsingham and various ruined priories and other sights of historical interest. Furthermore, you are only 20 minutes drive away from some stunning coastal scenery. There are e-bikes on site which you can use which were enormous fun - you must try them. We all had a go from a 6yr old on the back of a 2 seater to a 75 yr old. Helmets for all sizes provided. All in all the perfect holiday house. I thoroughly recommend it!

Thursford Castle is by far the best property we have stayed in over the years we have been visiting Norfolk. The standard of decor and fittings are second to none and the grounds are beautiful. It’s also ideal for those with impaired mobility as it’s all on one level. Absolutely stunning in every way.
