5 Melinda Cottages in Cromer, Norfolk, is a well-regarded holiday rental with a prime location near the beach, shops, and local amenities. Guests appreciate its cosy atmosphere, good-sized kitchen, and separate dining area. The enclosed garden is a highlight, particularly in the summer. While parking can be challenging, it is manageable with some skill. Some guests noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, but the owner's responsiveness and the property's overall charm and convenience have led to many enjoyable stays.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with several guests finding the cottage clean and welcoming, while others reported issues such as mould, dust, and pet odours. The owner's efforts to address cleaning concerns and the hiring of a new cleaner suggest an awareness and responsiveness to these issues.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach, walking routes, shops, pubs, and restaurants, all within a short walk. The convenience of public transport and the overall quietness of the area also contribute to its high location rating.

Comfort levels are generally positive, with the cottage described as cosy and well-equipped. However, some guests found the beds uncomfortable and the steep stairs a challenge, particularly for those with mobility issues or needing to access the bathroom at night.

Facilities are deemed adequate, with a well-equipped kitchen and good TV provision. However, maintenance issues such as dripping taps, rusty garden furniture, and a problematic shower have been noted. The owner's engagement with these concerns and offered compensation indicate a commitment to improvement.

There is insufficient information regarding any thoughtful gestures such as gifts, and therefore a score cannot be provided. No reviews mention gifts or special touches that would indicate the owner's thoughtfulness in this regard.

(Parking really isn’t that much of an issue, as previous people have mentioned.)Not sure how quiet it’ll be when the refurbishment of the pub opposite is done. In good area to access places to visit. Cleanliness was good, except the bathroom. Mould around edges of the bath, and the seal at the bottom of the shower screen needs removing and cleaning. Had trouble with the internet, contacted owner.. the fault was external but was sorted and resolved as soon as was possible. Over all we enjoyed our time in the cottage. Small things that could have made a difference, milk in the fridge on arrival. I had to buy kitchen cleaner and hand soap for the bathroom. Not a biggy, but the small things count

The lounge was comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, the beds were comfortable and it had a good size bathroom. The only issues we had was no Wifi during the stay and a major issue with the lock on the front door. Even after 3 days it was a challenge we still struggled to open the door from the inside and outside... If this is fixed my rating would go up. We did have a power cut for 12 (overnight) hours whilst we were their that was problematic, however this was for the area and not just the cottage. As posative the owner did all he could to support.

Upon entering the property there was a carbon monoxide alarm bleeping due to low batteries, it should’ve been changed in August 23 according to the label. I informed the owner who sent another which we assembled and put up, I did also mention the lock to him. The location of the property is ideal, short walk to East Runton beach which in itself is a short walk along the beach to Cromer. There are 3 pubs in the village, a convenience shop and a caravan club restaurant, although pub and restaurant are seasonal. Property set up was ideal given the size of the cottage. Found it to be mostly clean and tidy. There was no recycling information but we found a recycling point in the car park along the road to the beach. Whilst we were aware of the stair case and downstairs bathroom it’s not until you are there that you realise they really are very steep and narrow which was tricky in the middle of the night! I would think twice about a winter break here again because so much is closed, I forget that these places are seasonal!
