About this property

Last Carriage is a quirky railway retreat crafted with comfort and detail in mind, filled with bespoke and hand-made furniture. Nestled near the market town of Aylsham, it overlooks a wildlife pond with far-reaching views across the Norfolk countryside. A sun-trapping courtyard makes this hideaway the perfect place for two to unwind.

Stepping inside the railway carriage, at one end you will find a beautiful double bed made up with cotton linen. At the other end is a set of funky cinema chairs and a kitchenette. The kitchenette is well equipped with a sink, convection hob, fridge, pots, pans, utensils and crockery. Everything you could need for a one pot wonder! Through the sliding wooden door is an en-suite with a shower, wash basin and WC. The carriage is fully insulated with an electric heater, making it the perfect cosy get away in the winter months.

Outside is a pretty courtyard next to a pond with lovely views of the Norfolk countryside. This sheltered area has a firepit/barbecue and a table and chairs. Please note if booking with children, the pond has not been fenced off. There is a Hobbit House in the garden which is a barbecue hut. It has seating and a large barbecue with chimney inside, making it perfect for cooking, eating and snuggling by in the cooler months.

Cromer and Mundesley, with their wide sandy beaches, seaside charm, and fresh local seafood, are just a short drive away, while the historic city of Norwich is also close by, with other picturesque coastal towns such as Sheringham, Wells-next-the-Sea, and Holkham within easy reach.

Guests who are staying for three or four night breaks can choose to stay at the Hobbit House for a night, with two nights offered to guests who are staying for a week. This can be arranged with the owner on arrival.

Lovely evening at the fire pit. The carrige is perfect, good water pressure and warmth. Didn't feel lonely on my own. Warm welcome when arrived. All clean and well kept. Will be back! Loved it.

This is an absolutely charming glamping option, with the railway carriage beautifully converted to very cosy accommodation for one or two. In summer, it's lovely to spend the evening in the small but very comfortable seating area. While the carriage is in the garden of a large house, sensitively applied fencing and planting means that it feels very private to the glampers. All the essentials are in the kitchenette, the shower is great, the bed is very comfortable - everything has been thought of to make for a lovely stay; all with a distinct style which is delightful. Highly recommended if you are looking for a stylish option in a quiet rural location.

Our stay at the last carriage was lovely from start to finish! Beautiful carriage renovation, idyllic and peaceful setting. A great place to retreat from the hustle n bustle, one night wasn't enough! Thank you Jo.
