About this property

Watton 4.6 miles. Enjoying a lovely position on a quiet lane in Great Cressingham is Holly Cottage, a charming Norfolk property not far from the market town of Watton. Suited to a small family or a couple, this dog-friendly Norfolk cottage makes a perfect base for exploring this varied region. Within Holly Cottage you can find a well-presented kitchen, filled with appliances to assist you on your self-catered stay, including a washing machine and a dishwasher, enjoying a contemporary monochrome colour scheme. Continue through to the dining area with a table and chairs neatly placed in the corner, while the sitting room features a picture-perfect painted brick fireplace, with a warming woodburning stove set inside. Relax in this area on one of the two plush sofas, with a TV here to entertain featuring Freeview and a DVD player for a quiet night in. On the ground-floor you can also find the bathroom with a shower over bath, while up the steep cottage stairs are the two lovely bedrooms. Choose from either spacious rooms, a double or a single, with ample storage for your belongings. Enjoy the use of the enclosed garden and let the dogs run around on the grass, with some patio furniture to sit at with your coffee on a sunny morning. Just a short stroll down the road will bring you to the local pub, The Olde Windmill Inn, serving good food and home to a lovely outdoor seating area, while further amenities and shops can be found in the neighbouring market town of Watton. Here you can find both smaller shops and supermarkets, as well as several restaurants. The surrounding area is full of excellent attractions; visit the Oxburgh Hall, a 15th century moated manor house and chapel surrounded by woodland trails to explore, or head to Meslop Farm Park where children and adults alike can snuggle a piglet or a rabbit and say hello to all kinds of farm animals on this family-run farm. The Thetford Forest Park is within easy reach and as well as boasting a wealth of woodland to explore, it is home to Grime's Graves, a Neolithic flint mine open to visitors, featuring 400 pits resembling a grassy lunar landscape that is well worth a visit. Spend a day visiting the city of Norwich, where you can marvel at the medieval Norwich Castle, Museum and Art Gallery, enjoy a picnic in the delightful Eaton Park, or find adventure at Whitlingham Country Park where a host of watersports can be enjoyed with kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding among them. Holly Cottage is an excellent property to spend a fun-filled break in Norfolk.

Watton lies in a great location for touring the wonderful and varied regions of Norfolk and Suffolk. To the south west is Thetford Forest Park, the UK's largest man made lowland forest, while heading north east brings you to the city of Norwich with its medieval cathedral and rich history. Watton itself is home to a great selection of shops, including convenience stores and supermarkets, as well as restaurants and pubs, offering all you need on a self-catered stay.
