Set deep within King Edward viii Wood, Bishy Barny Bee is named after the local Norfolk term for a ladybird (said to be inspired by Bishop Barnabas of Norwich). An all year round holiday retreat in the most beautiful and unique location, far from any roads. If you’re seeking a touch of luxury and solitude, then Bishy Barney Bee offers both in abundance. Step up to the verandah and you will find the luxurious, double ended bath where you can lie back, relax and enjoy the stars with your favourite bubbles whilst watching the wildlife around you. Dry off in front of the gas fire pit, before cooking supper in the well-appointed outdoor kitchen. Finish off the evening with a Twilight Hamper full of tempting delights such as marshmallows, popcorn, chocolate sauce and hot chocolate, which can be ordered from the owners on arrival, although you will be greeted by complimentary starter welcome pack along with toiletries.

Inside the hut is a fabulous wood burning stove and a very comfortable king-size bed with crimson red and rich black cushions and soft throws. With a built-in boom box and a 20 inch television to enjoy, you will feel relaxed and cosy whatever time of year you choose to stay.

Watch the sun rise over the arable fields from your verandah, where you might spot the red deer grazing in the early morning. With the adjacent land owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, there is plenty of opportunity to see birds and wildlife, so don’t forget your binoculars. Set within 32 acres, it literally brims with wildlife. The sunrise is beautiful over Thompson's Lake, about a mile from your hut and is located just off the Peddar’s Way path.

The hut has the added benefit of a choice of two outdoor spa areas. The Lotus Spa and The Lilly Pad Spa. Please see below for further information.

Bishy Barney Bee is located just outside the village of Thompson, deep in Thetford Forest, on the outskirts of the forest canopy of beech and elm, in the company of two similarly appointed huts, yet offers plenty of privacy. There is a good pub in the village, in walking distance, where you can enjoy local ales and good food.

Early check in fee £20, arrival from 1.30pm, please request on booking.

Please note there is a £100 security deposit that is taken a few days before your holiday and held until departure.

With a king-size bed and television.

Shower room

Large shower, wash basin and WC, illuminated mirror and electric towel rail.

Verandah:

Doubled-ended free-standing bath, fully-equipped kitchen with combi oven, chairs/table for alfresco dining.

Private wood fired hot tub

Outside:

Outdoor furniture and gas fire pit (small additional cost for fuel)

The Lilly Pad Spa offers a Hot tub, Sauna, Relaxation area and Solar Shower which are available to book with private use. This spa is open 24 hours a day and 90 minute slots can be booked on our black board located near the spa area. You may return for additional slots in off peak times. You can add this extra to your booking for £33 per couple per slot. A basket with robes, towels and instructions are included in this cost.

The Lotus spa area with Natural swimming pool, swim spa, hot tub, barrel sauna, and relaxation area. The relaxation area is an elegant safari tent with a wood burner shower and changing facilities. Robes and towels will be provided. Refreshments; Selection of teas, Coffee & Juices
