Cosy, comfortable, crammed full of character and presented to charming perfection, Ember Cottage is a fabulous bolt hole and seriously romantic hideaway for two.

Built in 1780, and sitting in the heart of the pretty Norfolk village of Litcham, this delightful little cottage set over three floors has been renovated from top to bottom, very much working with the house to enhance rather than detract its personality. Presented and furnished very sensitively and tastefully throughout, reflecting a period property, with pops of colour in the decor and soft furnishings, and some beautiful wallpapers adding the finishing touch. The overall feeling is one of calmness, comfort and relaxation.

On entering the front door, you are welcomed into a spacious sitting room, with inviting sofas and armchairs set around a large wood burning stove, and a widescreen Smart television to enjoy when you feel the need. Next door, the dining kitchen, another generous sized room, is well-equipped and fully fitted in a contemporary country design and overlooks the courtyard garden. Off the rear hallway, a small utility area and cloakroom, complete this level of the cottage. On the first floor, reached by Norfolk winder stairs, you have the choice and use of two pretty bedrooms (one double and one full-size twin), in whichever configuration suits your needs best. The smart family bathroom on this floor offers both bath and shower options. At the very top of the cottage is a delightful surprise, a restful loft room; a quiet spot where you can listen to the radio, sit and read or play a game or two - there's an interesting selection of both for you to choose from. You'll be intrigued to discover a treasure from the cottage here too - inset into the wall is a petite glass fronted display of the 'concealed shoes' found by the owners under the floorboards during renovation. (Hiding shoes within the fabric of a house was a practice dating back to the Middle Ages and thought to ward off evil spirits from a property).

Outside, at the back of the cottage, there is a suntrap of an enclosed private courtyard garden where you might want to share a plate of something delicious bought from one of the village stores or ponder the day ahead with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Excellent facilities within the village - pub, fish and chip shop, Litcham Deli, general stores and post office - are all just a few steps away, making this lovely cottage a very convenient base for staying local as well from which to explore and experience the delights and diversity of Norfolk.

Additional Information:

Sorry, no pets.

The cottage is strictly for two people only (both bedrooms are available for guest use).

Pillows and duvets are synthetic fibre.

The cottage has Norfolk winder stairs to both upper floors. These are traditionally steep and twist - and may be an issue for anyone with mobility restrictions.

Please bring your own pods for use with the coffee machine.
