We have stayed in the Quarry rigg area of Bowness before, but previously had a 2 bed flat and slightly larger. The flat is clean and nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen area is very small with a fridge in the corner of a galley style kitchen not suitable for more than one person and fridge could only be accessed when kitchen door was shut. The shower was great but the basin plug did not work and there was no hot water from the basin tap although there was hot from kitchen tap. We also experienced a loud screeching noise from the kitchen cold water tap that we had to isolate the water using the isolator screw under the sink to stop the noise. This may not have been an issue with this flat as the next day the same screeching was heard from another flat and this was probably due to a water leak further up quarry rigg. I did report this to the cottages.com customer service but as it occurred the day before we were due to go home we managed around the problems.

We had a problem with losing a key and the services provided were inadequate. On a Saturday afternoon in August the local office was closed and the Hoseasons agent was unable to raise the owners, local office or cleaners. The only solution they offered was to call out a locksmith at our expense. We declined that because of the cost but were fortunately able to track down the lost key thanks to the kind person who took it in to the office of a local house we had visited. The owner phoned us the next day and left a message but we weren’t able to respond to that because we had no number to call.

The Snug is a very good choice for anyone needing a one bedroom apartment in a central location in Bowness, the living/dinning room is a nice size and comfortable, so is the bedroom which has a comfortable king size bed, the kitchen has everything needed but it's a bit of a drama to access the fridge contents which definitely needs a slight redesign, the shower cubicle is a nice size with powerful shower. Overall our experience was relaxing, I will probably book again for late next year.
