Visitor to Storrs Retreat
The flat itself was nice enough inside and spacious. The complex it was in though was soulless. Like staying in a white elephant development. Reminded me of Port Meirion . Looks like a real place but is just a pastiche of a proper place. The remoteness from bowness itself is a problem as there is almost nowhere you can get to on foot. The main road is dangerous for pedestrians having no pavement for half the distance into bowness. The surrounding alternative byways rejoice in a “private road” status some emphatically stating “No public right of way” on boards where they meet the main road erected by the residents who have clearly been allowed to privatise them! The experience of bowness’s hospitality has left me sure i’ll never return. Card only payment for all the public loos was emblematic of the attitude of the place.

The apartment is in a good location for exploring the area. It is spacious with plenty of room for four adults and it is well equipped. It is great to have a superking bed and good showers.It is a shame that the apartment was let down as it really needs some care and attention. The wallpaper is coming off the walls and ceilings in several places. The living room has a strong musty and dusty smell, not helped by the cobwebs.
