Guests say

Buttermere is a well-regarded cottage in Cumbria, praised for its peaceful and secluded setting, comfortable accommodation, and beautiful grounds. It serves as a great base for exploring the Lake District, with many guests appreciating the local wildlife and the proximity to lakes and attractions. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the lodge to be clean and tidy, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, a few reviews mentioned issues such as cobwebs, stained upholstery, and a need for a more thorough cleaning in some areas, slightly lowering the score.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, beautiful gardens, and convenience for exploring the Lake District. Its proximity to Windermere, Coniston, and local villages adds to its appeal, making it an ideal retreat for nature lovers and those seeking peace.

Guests consistently describe the accommodation as comfortable, cosy, and warm, with comfortable beds and a homely feel. Some guests suggested improvements such as blackout curtains and a larger shower cubicle, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

The facilities generally meet guests' needs, with a well-equipped kitchen and cosy living area. However, some reviews point out maintenance issues like a non-closing oven door, lack of WiFi, and overgrown paths, indicating room for improvement.

There is insufficient information regarding thoughtful touches such as gifts or welcome packs, as they are not consistently mentioned in the reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to accurately assess this category.

It was spacious, comfortable, warm and clean. The decor was a bit tired and a few more kitchen utensils would have been good. Overall good and I would definitely stay there again if visiting the area.

Peaceful location, clean and comfortable property.

I've never slept so well in years and that was including storm Amy, there's 3 great pubs with excellent food in all, and just a short drive from Buttermere. Well recommended if you want peace in the middle of nowhere. Many thanks
