The Carriage House is a charming and cosy cottage, highly praised for its breathtaking views over Ullswater and its tranquil, convenient location. Guests consistently mention the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable interiors, and beautiful garden, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District. While some note minor maintenance issues, low bedroom ceilings, and occasional cleaning oversights, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.
Most guests found the cottage clean, tidy, and well maintained, with spotless linen and towels. A few mentioned areas needing a deeper clean, such as under beds and sofas, and the presence of some cobwebs and spiders, but these were minor points in otherwise positive feedback.
The location is universally praised, with guests highlighting the stunning views, peaceful setting, and easy access to Ullswater and nearby towns. The garden and patio areas are particularly appreciated for their outlook over the lake and surrounding hills.
Guests generally found the cottage cosy and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfy lounge. Some noted the firm or creaky mattress and low bedroom ceiling as drawbacks, especially for taller guests, but most still enjoyed restful stays.
The cottage is well equipped, with a modern kitchen, multiple TVs, and a lovely garden. Some guests found the TV system complicated and noted minor maintenance issues such as non-working garden features, weak shower pressure, and occasional creaky beds, but these did not detract significantly from their stay.
Several guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as binoculars for star gazing and a welcome pack with tea and coffee. Please note, however, that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

A beautiful little cottage which perfect for the two of us. The garden was great for outdoor dining and watching the stunning scenery. The kitchen had everything you could ever need.

We enjoyed spectacular weather during our stay and made good use of the outdoor seating area which gives amazing views over Ullswater. The garden however would benefit from a little TLC. The kitchen is very well equipped for self catering although the fridge is very small. There are three TV’s yet we struggled to watch live TV! The bed was very comfortable. The cottage is in a superb location for visiting the Northern Lakes and we appreciated being able to find walks away from the crowds.

A great place to stay with a well equipped kitchen and comfy bed. The views from the garden were stunning. The pub was easy to walk too but uphill on the way back! Three TV's in a small place but too complicated. We struggled to watch live TV and there was no recycling. That said, we would definitely return as it was a perfect situation and had everything we needed.
