Larchwood, a detached timber lodge, is situated on the edge of a forest, with the towering larches and unspoilt woodland offering a haven for wildlife, including red squirrels, hares, roe deer and many species of birds. Guests will delight in enjoying the entertaining antics of their bushy tailed neighbours! Watching the busy red squirrels provides an engrossing pastime, and nuts and seeds can be found in the shed to feed them with. In a prime position, overlooking Duke’s Pond (a medieval watering hole for Drovers) in a small, private development, Larchwood offers well-presented good quality accommodation and the opportunity to feel close to nature in idyllic surroundings. The countryside surrounding the lodge is unspoilt, with Greystoke Forest on one side and stunning views to Blencathra on the other. There are gardens to the front, rear and side of the property, as well as a generous decking area, offering ample outdoor space to enjoy the picturesque surroundings. Nearby are the charming villages of Greystoke, Caldbeck, Mungrisdale and Hesketh Newmarket, with their own pubs and local shops. Sitting between Keswick, Penrith, Carlisle and Ullswater, Larchwood offers an ideal base for exploring the northern Lake District and Cumbria. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Perfect accommodation, with all you need.The location is brilliant, peaceful but not far from good walks and attractions. We loved the small touches, especially the squirrel feeder, we have never seen red squirrels before and we saw them every day 😀

Had a fabulous back to nature holiday with many different birds to entertain us all day , just keep filling the feeders and they will come.Highlight was the red squirrels, first time we have seen them and they didn't disappoint, same as the birds keep filling the feeders .The lodge is beautifully presented and equipped with everything you need. The lodge is on a very quiet and well laid out site it feels like you are driving through a forest which adds to the charm of Dukes meadow. A 30 minute drive to Keswick & Ullswater .This has been such a great holiday that we have already booked again.
