The Coach House in Ambleside offers a private, spacious setting with a large garden and ample wildlife, ideal for family holidays and nature enthusiasts. Its central location is perfect for exploring nearby towns and enjoying local walks. While some guests noted the need for maintenance and updates, the property's charm and potential for a comfortable stay were consistently praised.
The property was generally found to be clean inside, though some guests mentioned that the outside appeared neglected upon arrival and that certain areas could benefit from more thorough cleaning. The presence of old and stained items was noted, slightly diminishing the overall impression of cleanliness.
The location is highly regarded for its central position, convenient for exploring the Lake District and accessing beautiful walks directly from the property. Road noise was mentioned but did not significantly detract from the overall experience.
Guests found the property cosy and spacious, but some expressed that the furniture, particularly the beds and sofas, could be more comfortable. The property was considered more suitable for smaller groups despite its size.
The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen utensils and appliances, though some were reported as old or partially non-functional. The need for refurbishment and updates in furniture and decoration was a common theme, as was the unreliable Wi-Fi connection.
While guests appreciated the property's features, there were no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness category based on the reviews provided.

The pretty village of Grasmere is just down the road, where you can explore Dove Cottage, famous as one of Wordsworth’s earlier homes where he and his sister spent 8 years of ‘plain living, but high thinking’. It was here he wrote his most famous work, ‘I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud’, and is now a fantastic museum about the writer. Grasmere also offers a selection of bars and restaurants, tea rooms and independent shops, where you can try some of the world famous Grasmere gingerbread. Slightly further afield, but not too far, explore Ambleside and Windermere, where you can enjoy steamer rides, the World of Beatrix Potter, rowing or swing amongst the treetops at Go Ape. The location was excellent walks available out of the front door. Driveway needs attention the cottage could do with a little TLC. Wildlife excellent advisable to bring wild bird food and feed for red squirrel nut hatch woodpecker and wild birds.

Difficult to see/find from the main road. No signage, we drove past it twice. Clean inside but the outside looked neglected. Leaves and acorns all over the paths on arrival (Saturday) until the gardener rocked up on Wednesday! Some of the trees need trimming back. External paintwork needs cleaning. Cosy for 4 people not 6. Lounge area and small television only suitable for maximum of 4 people. No dressing table/stool in the front bedroom. Consider replacing the chest of drawers. Dull pictures in bedrooms. Internal sweeping brush was broken. Unhappy that front bedroom mattress cover had blood stains on it from a previous guest!!
