Ambleside has an eclectic mix of shops, bars and restaurants to suit every palate and sufficient activities to suit all ages and abilities. Close to the foot of Kirkstone Pass, Oaks Retreat offers almost instant access to the Lakeland fells and the owners have supplied a range of walking books and guides to help you plan your route.
Refurbished to a very good standard Oaks Retreat is a spacious and stylish apartment all on one level, offering excellent facilities for a self catering break. The thoughtful owners who live adjacent have provided a lovely bed and mattress dressed with quality duvet and linens to ensure a restful nights sleep and a shower room with power shower to sooth those aching limbs. The sumptuous leather sofa offers the chance to snuggle up and take in a film or catch up on the soaps whilst the covered patio area will enable you to holiday outdoors when our typical Lakeland weather will allow!

Our first stay at Oak's Retreat and much enjoyed. The property is situated to the north of the town centre. Be aware that there is a steep walk, but not far, from Ambleside. The property is peaceful and well located. Well equipped and spotlessly clean. There is an outside area to enjoy the sunshine if weather permits. The hosts are very helpful and they have two crazy dogs and a robot lawnmower, so what's not to like!

We head the most fabulous stay here. The location is perfect as there are so many walks from the town. We didnt need to use the car at all.The weather was so hot which meant we could make use of the incredible patio.The accommodation was fully equipped with everything we needed, so much thought had been put into making the stay comfortable.

Excellent location a few minutes walk into Ambleside. Hosts on holiday but we were well looked after by a family member. Apartment clean and had everything we needed. A thoroughly enjoyable stay with an outside eating/drinking area together with private parking.Already planning a return visit later in the year.Highly recommended without any hesitation.
