Very spacious apartment in a great quiet location close to Ambleside town centre. It is only about a 5 minute walk into town but longer returning due to steep uphill path.Kitchen well equipped, excellent walk in shower and large comfy bed.Parking is a huge bonus. We didn’t move the car all week, either hiking from the door or using local buses to go further afield, Plenty of cafes and restaurants close by.

The location of the property was great. We enjoyed going for walks from the house and it was easy to walk down into Ambleside for food. However, we were disappointed to find that the pet free accommodation was covered in pet hair. The apartment is attached to the owner’s house and their dogs were let out late at night and early in the morning. They ran past the bedroom window barking, which woke us up regularly past 11pm.We also returned to our apartment one afternoon and there were two piles of dog faeces by our entrance. Unfortunately, these were not picked up for over 8 hours. We didn’t find the bed or pillows comfortable, waking up with back pain most days (despite being in our 20s!).Whilst there were some positives, unfortunately the negatives significantly outweighed these.

THE ANNEXE/COTTAGE WE STAYED IN WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. IT IS JOINED TO THE HOME OF THE OWNERS, AS I THINK ARE ANOTHER TWO ANNEXES. THE OWNERS ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND EXTREMELY HELPFUL. IT IS LOCATED IN A CUL-DE-SAC, SO VERY QUIET AND NO THROUGH TRAFFIC. CAR PARKING IS JUST OUTSIDE THE PROPERTY BOUNDARY IN A SPACIOUS DESIGNATED AREA ON THE QUIET LANE, ABOUT 20m FROM THE COTTAGE DOOR. OUR COTTAGE APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN VERY RECENTLY REFURBISHED. THE BEDROOM IS VERY SPACIOUS, WITH A MASSIVE FITTED WARDROBE. THE BATHROOM IS OUTSTANDING. THE LARGE COMBINED KITCHEN, DINING, LOUNGE AREA IS WELCOMING AND COMFORTABLE, WITH ALL THE FACILITIES WE NEEDED. AMBLESIDE ITSELF IS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY WITH MULTIPLE ATTRACTIONS AND MUCH TO DO. OUR ONLY CRITICISM OF IT, AS WE DO LIKE TO EAT OUT, IS THAT MANY OF THE PUBS SERVING FOOD, APPEAR TO BE IN CHAIN OWNERSHIP, A CHANGE FROM THE LAST TIME WE VISITED AMBLESIDE AND THE FOOD ON OFFER WAS BASIC TO SAY THE LEAST. ADVICE WOULD BE TO RESEARCH AND SOURCE INDEPENDANT PUBS OR RESTAURANTS IF EATING OUT. WE ATE IN THE COTTAGE SOME NIGHTS AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF PLACES TO BUY FOOD INCLUDING LOCAL BUTCHERS, BAKERS, GREENGROCERS, AS WELL SUPERMARKETS. ALL IN ALL AMBLESIDE IS A GREAT PLACE AND THE COTTAGE WE STAYED IN WAS BRILLIANT, I COULD NOT RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY ENOUGH.
