Escape from it all to this gorgeous cottage sitting on a lovely complex of properties in the heart of the Lake District. Soak up stunning views of the Duddon Valley from this traditional, stylish property, which sleeps four people over two bedrooms. It’s the ideal rural retreat for small families or groups of friends who want to spend their days strolling along the river that inspired William Wordsworth, or paddle-boarding at Coniston Water, and their evenings sipping wine and soaking up the views of the fells from the property’s patio.

Head inside and make your way to the contemporary kitchen, which boasts lovely views over Harter Fell. Make yourself at home and rustle up some dinner for your loved ones, and then get everyone together to dine at the large dining table. After dinner, relax in front of the TV in the cosy lounge or head to the spacious summer room, which is flooded with natural light, to lose yourself in a good book. The French doors there open out onto the patio and garden, and there are some truly lovely views over the valley towards Coniston Fells. When the day is done, you’ll find two beautiful bedrooms on the first floor.

Head to Coniston Water Boating Centre (11.5 miles) for a glorious day of paddle-boarding, kayaking or canoeing. You can also hire bikes there if you want to explore on dry land. Head into Bowness-on-Windermere (28 miles) to visit the World of Beatrix Potter exhibition, take a cruise on Lake Windermere or climb up to Orrest Head to enjoy some of the finest views in England.
