About this property

Nestled in the prime town of Windermere in the Cumbrian countryside, is this fabulous three-bedroom dwelling, Chestnuts Cottage. Enjoying a sought-after location within the Lake District National Park and a short stroll away from Lake Windermere, whilst featuring a contemporary interior, an elevated patio, off-road parking, and well-appointed en-suite bedrooms, the cottage welcomes six guests and one well-behaved dog, perfect for a family getaway. Relish in the well-stocked kitchen/diner, where you can prepare and enjoy meals as a group, before climbing the stairs to the first-floor sitting room, cosily presented with plush sofas and a virtual flame electric fire. On sunny days, open the patio doors and relax outside on the elevated patio, bordered with mood lighting, colourful blooms and planters; you'll also find a further patio, perfect for alfresco dining, to the front of the property. As the night unfolds, find three spacious bedrooms, all equipped with storage, TVs, and shower facilities, including a ground-floor king-size, a double, and a bunk room. Suitable to home the entire family, get ready with convenience in mind, before reaching Windermere and its array of wonderful amenities; Beresford's Restaurant & Pub and Hooked are firm favourites, whilst the essentials can be purchased from a local convenience store. Within proximity to Chestnuts Cottage, enjoy a hike up to Orrest Head Viewpoint, overlooking the lake, or perhaps experience the water from a Windermere Lake Cruise, with The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction to visit on route. Reaching Ambleside, tour the manicured grounds of Stagshaw Gardens, take in the tranquil waters of Stock Ghyll Force, or head to Brockhole on Windermere visitor centre for various outdoor activities, including archery. On your travels, stop off at Kendal Museum, covering local archaeology and natural history, and Blackwell Art Gallery, or if you'd prefer to be outdoors, plan your route up Claife Heights summit, within the national park. Enjoy Windermere with Chestnuts Cottage as a central base.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both lively, entertaining communities surrounded by the breath-taking Lake District landscape. Both towns offer a variety of services, businesses, and dining options to suit every preference, with the addition of a boat journey to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium, and Beatrix Potter's "Hill Top House" at Sawrey in Ambleside. The nearby Grizedale Forest Park offers a variety of activities, such as several pleasant hikes, mountain biking, and the "Go Ape" adventure park. For those who prefer an adventure-filled trip, the area also has a lot of National Trust estates and a range of water sports. The "World of Beatrix Potter" in Bowness will be fun for kids to visit, and other towns like Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick, and the Lakeland Mountains are also easily accessible.

It is very comfortable, clean and warm and has everything you need for a great holiday. It is beautifully decorated with some lovely touches and is well situated within easy walking distance of both Windermere and Bowness. There is room for parking two cars and the owners are very helpful. Even the neighbours were very helpful when we got snowed in! We fully recommend this cottage and intend to return again

It had everything you would need with lots of space. It was much bigger than we thought from the photos! The walk in wardrobe was very good and it was always very warm which was good as it was November! It was well placed between Windermere town and Bowness so you could walk to each place and leave the car behind. We would definitely book again!

Both issues sorted with good communication with the owner and lakelovers company. Comfortable house, modern furniture and well stocked kitchen. 3 ensuite bedrooms comfortable for 4 adults and children (bunk beds in one room). Good location 5 mins walk to Windermere village. A bit further to Bowness and the lake. Nice large balcony area , only had chance to sit outside a couple of times due to typical lake district weather, but in the summer this would be a great area to use for meals outside. Once early issues were sorted a good location, good house and good holiday and above all problems sorted quickly
