About this property

Windermere is a stylish and new lodge, light and spacious situated in the Beech Hill area of Fallbarrow Park, in a quieter area surrounded by mature trees. It’s just a hop skip and a jump to the clubhouse and facilities and the same to the lake and marina. You’ll also enjoy glimpses of the lake a few yards away. There are two double bedrooms and two bathrooms, making it a great choice for couples with plenty of relaxation room. A spacious deck wraps around the lodge – perfect to simply unwind and enjoy the peaceful setting. Windermere Lodge offers guests a relaxing retreat furnished to a high standard. Fallbarrow Park is one of the loveliest Parks in the lake district, sitting right on the shores of Lake Windermere, with views across the lake and up to the fells all around. The bustling, cosmopolitan village of Bowness-on-Windermere is 0.2 miles walk away handy for many shops, bars and restaurants. From Bowness Pier you can start an unforgettable day out on the water with Windermere Lake Cruises – board a beautiful cruiser and hop on and off or rent a canoe or a motorboat. If you wish to stay closer to your lodge, Fallbarrow has on site bar, restaurant, deli, as well as a children’s play area, beer garden, picnic area and woodland walks. Further afield, drive up to Windermere village – two miles away, or the bustling market town of Ambleside four miles away and you are only four miles from Troutbeck village at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass which winds its way up over the high fells and then down to Ullswater. All in all a fabulous location and lodge for your Windermere adventure.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There are also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and “Go-Ape” adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

We had an amazing stay with family The decor is lovely and all looks like new Club house facilities good too with decent food with evening meals and breakfast Great location next to Bowness Only downside, we couldn’t get WiFi but all had decent phone signals so not much of a problem

We travelled as a family of 5; 2 adults and 3 children (5 year old and 2 year old twins) this was a very last minute booking, much to my horror, as in booked it Friday morning and set off an hour later! Turned out to be one of the best weekends away we’ve had! I’m very fussy with cleanliness, this exceeded my expectations I usually ship the husband out with the kids for an hour to unpack and fully clean the place when we go away but we were able to unpack and get straight out!! We didn’t take travel cots but we put the mattress from the top bunk on the floor and the twins were able to sleep on there, our eldest had one of the other rooms to himself. The lodge is immaculate with a very well thought out floor plan. We didn’t use the outside space but the view was lovely, can imagine it would be perfect on a summer night with a glass of wine! Plenty on outdoor furniture and the decking area was big enough for a large family to enjoy or eat outside. I’d seen a couple of people had mentioned that the living room furniture wasn’t very comfortable, I do get it, and on a personal preference I’d would have a more ‘lounge-y’ sofa but it was plenty comfortable for the evenings when watching the Tv and relaxing so not really an issue for us! The WiFi wasn’t great but we used our personal hotspots on our mobiles and had no problems. We didn’t use the sky Tv so I can’t comment on that but Netflix and the general Tv channels were fine for our stay. We absolutely loved our stay here and the location was just perfect, we’ve been looking for our next stay!, hopefully it won’t be too long until we can return!
